The summer is over, not much games in it. Why developers always release great games after summer, october exactly, whenmy holidays finished, and must gotowork:cry:,or school for others...Summer was a drain for games, not a single good one there, i think they must release games before summer holidays, or am i the only one who think that way:question:

Games are released to a world wide audience, publishers are not going to change a games release dates so that it suites you.

October is a good time because it's the build up to to Christmas when the majority of games are purchaced for the year. Releasing in October gives publishers a chance to market the game up untill Christmas.

Coincidence perhaps? Deadlines? Cut funding causing a premature release? Maybe october is known for having the highest selling period of the year (aside from christmas). I know for a fact that Jericho is aiming for a Halloween release, which ties in with their horror based game.

Unfortunately this has been a trend for a while now. Other games are released through the year but the biggest ones are usually released close to Christmas. I don't really care much for the trend since it means I don't have as much money left when Christmas rolls around, either that or I end up having to wait to get the games I want.

Besides, most of the AAA titles are not being released in october. Halo 3 is being released this month, UT3, Crysis, CoD 4, AC, Hellgate London are all being released in November - December.

You understand me perfectly, but xmas is not only holiday, its a marketing stuff i know, but if they release some of the games in summer people still buy them...and concurency will be not high for developers:question::!

It's not coincidence, these games are being marketed for Christmas buyers, It makes good business sense to release from October onwards simple as.

I work 12 hour graveyard shifts but they are only 3 or 4 days a week. I catch up on my gaming during my days off since I usually up all night anyway and there isn't much else to do once I'm done with cleaning up around the house.

Just buy the games you want and play it when you have the time. Can't have it all.

LOL, my gaming days are going to end up being shorter in the near future. My wife is living in California taking care of her Mom. Now her family finally got off their lazy backsides and decided to help out so she could move up here. I get the feeling most of my gaming time will be when she's in bed. :)

But when she is in the bed, you must do something else, play another kind of games;) I play games only when she is reading or sleeping8) Bad days for us older gamers:::

Youclaim to beborn in 1979, that's not exactly "older". The spelling alone is a gimme (older gamers type in long hand).

Games are done when games are done, be it October, November, or January (though admittedly, most publishers aim for xmas). It might be little more than coincidence

It has been statisticly proven that Tuesdays are the lowest profitable day for stores - which is why you see many new DVDs, video games and music being released on Tuesdays - to try and draw people into stores to spend their money.

Perhaps the same might hold true for October??? - as stated above by xxPanicxx

The answer is simple, just read this, basically games are released at the beginning of the fiscal year in order to measure how good 'X' year was compared to another one. And since most companies HQ are USA based then is logical to see this behavior.
