Offline PC LAN games for college students

I am(we are) that guy(s) who travel in the boat of an engineer, termed as a hosteler. And the life is utterly boring adding to lack of (high speed) online connectivity so we have to go by the likes of offline LAN games. It's our daily schedule to play CS or any valve/half-life games in our free times (..... come on,engineer's get free time?) or maybe a switch to NFS 2k8. So any idea to what extent any other MP offline LAN game is available to be played in such a scenario.

Download won't be a problem,as that's what we go to our houses for in even semesters end. (Yes!, I got a life...)
