Now I enabled physx to run on the 9500 gt in my Nvidia properties but played a few game and really didnt notice anything... I played Crysis and Source... hmmmm anything else that needs to be done? My latest drivers are up to date with PHYSX...

-Thanks

Yeah, now you just need to play a game that supports PhysX :P

Most games dont have it so you wont get any benefit, NVIDIA have some PhysX demo's you can try if you want also.

Those games don't use PhysX. Got UT3, or Batman:AA? But yea, go find a PhysX supporting game and give it a go.

Nope. Research before you buy, not after.

Physx only add some details in games,

some games don't give us the availability of all the details unless when we use Physx, thats not fair.

What kind of card would I want to use for adding physx? I suppose my GTX285 can handle it by itself but 1920*1080 + AA does stretch it a bit thin.

FX Batman: AA with 8xQAA without physx runs better than it does with physx enabled + no AA.

For high physx you want a 9600gso/gt.

The 8 series can handle CUDA 1.0; the 9 series, 1.1; the GT* 2** series supposedly can handle CUDA 2.0. For now, I am using an 8800GTS (G80), and it's so far been fine for handling PhysX, and allowing my 285 to run 1920x1080 with max AA :D

Cuda 2.0 is just the version of the software, has nothing to do with the cards. Not to be confused with the compute capability of the devices that support CUDA, 2.0 of the toolkit is an upgrade to the programming environment rather than hardware support

Try playing Mirror's Edge. Half the time I didn't know that PhysX was at work, especially the fancy plastic bubble sheets and stuff. If you want extreme, try rolling with a GTX 285 Oc'ed and a "puny" Core 216 solely for PhysX :P

Maybe, but I suppose if you don't want to spend too much to have a card specifically for PhysX acceleration, then it would be worth your time to simply get a cheap-o one that supports the more efficient software version. Ergo, if you already got a powerful main GPU, it doesn't make sense to buy a powerful nvidia GPU just for PhysX - in that sense, just get a $50 Geforce 210 or something that could at least run the newest version(s) of it effectively.

Speaking of PhysX, one thing I have considered is to repurpose my 8800 GT as a dedicated PhysX card as soon as I can afford a new primary graphics card that supports DX11 and keeps me set for future titles. It might just be enough for those UT3 PhysX maps... My only worry is how much of my 49A of +12V power will be eaten up by said 8800 GT. I picked out the PCP&C Silencer 610 knowing full well that I wasn't going to be running SLI or CrossFire, but didn't anticipate that NVIDIA would acquite Ageia and their PhysX engine to make it run on their GPUs. A new high-end card would probably run well by itself, but the 8800 GT could stress it too much.

A 600w psu thats SLI ready with only 34A will handle two 8800GT's just fine. And a GTX 295 only needs a good 650w psu with 45A. And it seems that ATI cards keep on lowering power requirements needed for more faster cards. So hopefully Nvidia will follow suit.

Well, you should've paired two 9800GT's together for some Sli at least and then you'd have the best of both worlds > Physx and Sli. I don't know what more you expected from Physx though..re-read the name. P_H_Y_S_X
