ok, so I got a Ge-force 8600, but...

Ok, i know it's not an amzing card but it's great and has good performance. I was so excited for getting it (I had a geforce 6150, imagine...) I couldn't wait. But now the thing that I once loved it's now an obstacle: my monitor, you see it's an Acer LCD Widescreen 1680x1024, one of the higher resolutions and when I inserted the card my fears came true. It runs well, but you realize that it could be much better in games like Counter Strike: Source, Half-Life2(well the same engine, i could use some more frames). So my friend told me the problem it's my monitor 'cuz a card like that shouldn't have that kind of problems with those games, does anyone has this card? (evga Ge-Force 8600GTS 256mb) does it runs really well in a normal monitor? i've got this question killing me cuz I got in mind buying games like Gears of War, Crysis, GTA 4, so what will happen when i buy those, the card will burn out or what?.

One last thing: it has been around two or three times when I'm playing a game that it stops and the pc rsets itself, my friend told me it needs a higher power source, what to do? is it the power?

well i have your card, 3 gig ram xp home and quad core Q6600 and hl2 runs at 160fps+ (on the lost coast stress tester) I also played crysis at high (not maxxed out) and it ran perfectly fine, so there you have it and a 550 psu

Yeah, it's your moniter, but never fear! it's only the half-life games as far as i'm concerned. my friend has that card and an absurdly large widscreen, all his games work but half life 2 on it. so if you can live without playing any source engine games, you should be fine. with_teeth26

hell call me a lier, I only had the demo my anti-alias was on 4x (or 2 pretty sure 4 though) anymore and it would slow down, I put all settings up to high (i couldnt get the very high setting) but I dont have the game anymore so I cant prove what I said, and why would I lie?
