Can I ask what you're going to use the laptop for?

Hmm.. the sony has a weak GPU so you may have trouble gaming on it, but it has a bluray drive if that's your thing. If you plan to play newer games I would go with the Asus but the resolution isn't the best I'm not sure if you're willing to spend a little bit more but if so you should check out http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834101166. My friend has an older version and it runs games pretty well. But this is more for if you want to play newer games.

Yeah, basically out of those two, you are deciding between performance and visual display (screen size and resolution). If you ask me, the sony should handle current games with little problem while giving you the added visual benefits of size and res. But for future purposes, the Asus will likely last longer for ya.

Get the Asus..you don't go w/ a laptop cuz you want a large screen anyway. You basically give up a faster processor and a better gpu for a larger screen. Blu-ray..pfft..typical sony. If you're more into multimedia, as in viewing and listening, go w/ the sony..otherwise, the asus is much more powerful of the two.
