Ok so my computer is really old, like 7-8 years old, but it was the best model out when it came out so it's still ok by todays standards, it'll run Half Life 2, but I really want to be able to play Fear and Battlefield 2 which means I need to upgrade the graphics which at the moment are 64mb with no pixel shaders no nothing, just the bare minimums. But I'm a cheap skate so I really just want one that's average.

I found this one, is this any good for a super cheap card?

What are your other specs? Based on the age, you probably only have a PCI or if you're lucky an AGP slot.

Any ideas how to check for those, I know it has a PCI slot but no idea about AGP. The other specs are fine I checked them all with Can You Run It.

The card you picked isn't a card meant for gaming; so even if your motherboard supports is, don't pick it. If you were to go for something I would suggest atleast a 8600gt; however, I have an 6 year old computer and it is AGP based. If you don't have an AGP based mobo, don't even consider just buying a new video card.

Even if you have an AGP slot, it's going to be AGP 2.0, which would over-volt a newer graphics card, assuming it even fits. Your only option is to buy a new motherboard, processor, and RAM. You'll also need a new power supply, as the connections have changed since you first bought your PC. There is some good news, though. Even without a graphics card, a modern computer will have no problems playing BF2, so long as you have at least 2GB of RAM.

If you have an AGP slot the ati X800 should work out nicely. You can buy them cheap on ebay.

If it is 8 year old computer it won't have PCIe. It possible has a AGP even only PCI slot. If its AGP it most likely is a AGP x2. I think the best that can do is an old 9700Pro which has AGP2.0 as after that they were only AGP3.0 compatable with AGPx4 and AGPx8 motherboards.

You processor is? Pentium3?
