alright guys, you might have already heard about the woes i had with my geforce fx 5200 but now i guess its time for change. I currently own a emachine t3985. I changed the power supply to a 500 watt psu, the hard drive to a 150 gb hdd. It has a intel celeron d 2.93 Ghz, 1 gig ram and i want a new graphics card since i think my current one fried when i tried overclocking it lol. So anyway im looking for a card thats better than my fx 5200 but only cost about 20 - 30 dollars. I want it to atleast play morrowind and half life 2. so any suggestions?

20-30 bucks and you want to play Half-Life 2? Is this a joke? Whatever. For that kind of money, you could get an HD3450. I don't know how well it would do, but there you go.

well this is only for the time being, im getting a super good rig with the hd 4870 in it. Im only getting the new card and using it for a couple months(maybe 2 or 3) I bought the fx for only 20 bucks(mighta been a rebate) and it played morrowind and half life 2 on pretty good settings. Its only recently where it keeps on locking up, and i think thats the result of me trying to overclock it.

btw i only have pci slot, not an express slot. The 3450 looks like it will do pretty good but i also have a crt monitor with a vga cable. im also only gaming on 1024 by 768 resolution. Is the geforce 8400 gs better by any chance. i guess i can just buy a vga to dvi converter or something.

In your price range, it is just the FX5200 and others similar to it. However, for $50 (after rebate) you can get the ATI Radeon HD 2400. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131082 I played half-life 2 on max settings on the laptop version of the ATI Radeon X1300 before, so this will probably do better.
