Hello people!
Is there a thread about old DOS games or somewhere else that fits this content?
Or can a person just spread those out over here?

I really like old games when I think about them, but whenever I sit down to play them, my patience quickly wears out.
It amazes me that I actually used to sit and play some of those games - and for some of them, the only way to finish them was to sit and play the whole thing all the way though.
I just have no idea how I managed it. I'm not ADHD or anything but I just can't sit and play one game for more than a couple hours any more.
For some reason its the same for me. Except that it happens with pretty much every game now. I remember when i was youger playing games on the NES and SNES, or even with the n64, i could play games all day without getting tired or bored of them. Now i have to force myself to play them. A good example was bioshock, no matter how good i thought it was, or no matter how hard i tried, i just couldnt play it more thanone hour at a time. Same thing applies to pretty much every game to recently come out, with the exception of half-life 2 games and the witcher. I dont know if its just me getting too picky on my games or if games dont have this special appeal that would always keep you wanting more, like older games did.I really like old games when I think about them, but whenever I sit down to play them, my patience quickly wears out.

I'm kind of the same way, or at least with a couple of them. I still love all of them (half of that love probably being my childhood, stored-away, sheer respect for those games), but there are a few I just can't get into like I used to.
Take Commander Keen, for instance. Playing this game is really nostalgic for me, and I can play it and have a relatively good time, for a short time. But it's the kind of game where you die in one hit, and have to avoid being touched by every single enemy, spiked pit, and boiling lake of goo, and try to get *all* the goodies (collect all the points), the main point of playing through to the end of the levels and the game. If you complete a level without getting them all, that's it, you can't go back later and try to get the rest of them.
This means you have to replay and replay and replay each level every time you die (since you can't live with yourself if you complete it without getting everything, and trying to get everything almost guarantees your demise many times over), not stopping until you're satisfied with how much you've cleaned the level out. And believe me, you'll die a lot until you've got the process of combating each type of enemy and obstacle, and in each different area of each level, down to a passionately fine art...
How in the damn hell did I play this game?!
Interesting things...
I didn't think that the primary parameter of difference is the time duration required to play these games.
Nowadays you can save your progress in any game.Whether it's a profile saving your mission status, or in-game saving.
Aladdin, Lion King, for example, had to befinished in one time, from the first level to the end. But when skilled enough you could finish those within an hour or two.
I guess most of you people heard about DOSBox?
