For starters, I am sorry for posting in the wrong area twice. I just searched "hardware" and clicked thef first thing that came up, so if you've seen my other posts this is the same question in the right place--finally.

I'm buying a new computer for college. A gaming laptop. My limit is about $2,000 and I really fancy the Asus G1 but would also consider buying the Asus G2, though it seems like not that much more for another $200. So, my question is this: can I buy a Asus G1 and upgrade the existing video card, a GeForce G8600M GT 256MB, with a nVidia GeForce 7950 GTX 512MB. I have heard that only 17' models are able to fit it into their chasis and the G1 has a 15.4' while the G2 has a 17'. Any help in this area would be a great help. Thank you

Upgrading the graphics card on notebooks is very difficult and doesn't always work. Saying that, it is possible, however the hassle is probably not worth it. The 8600M GT is actually a really good card. My friend bought a notebook with that graphics card and has been able to play most games with high settings.

I understand you want to game, but if you're going to college, i wouldn't get a gaming laptop. It's a waste of money IMO. Mobile graphics cards are usually nowhere near their desktop equivalents and its just a hassle upgrading stuff. Just get a normal laptop, and get an xbox 360.
