Only one FPS

Well recently I put all my money into upgrading my old computer. I have a PS3 with COD4 and Vegas so their out. I plan on getting into pc gaming for 1 of two things. I'm looking for a game that either has awesome vehicles and weapons and stuff that console games don't have or a game that takes actual strategy or atleast has some mature gamers when you play online. I'm only into the online aspect.
For ps2 I was really into the socom series because the players were mature and really tried to work together. I don't wanna get a game like Halo were everyone runs around holding the trigger spinning in circles. I don't really know much about computer FPS so anything you say I'll look into.

So what games do you guys recommend? I have heard BF2 and BF2142 were good but also heard a few things and frontlines and thats comming out soon so any help is greatly appreciated.

Ok thanks I wasnt sure if there were any good games like FFOW or anything else I should look into since I can only get one game for a little.

Also which BF and should I get the expansions?

FFOW is bassiclly a copy-cat of the BF games anyway, just worse (I was in the Beta.)

I would get BF2, and dont get any exp. packs. Nobody plays them, if you like BF2, get special forces though, since that gives you new weapons.

I say BF2 because of the realistic setting, vehicles, and huge maps.

Edit: and it's only $10 bucks, can't beat that.

Battlefield 2 is great; my only complain against is that has very unbalanced vehicle/infantry ratio. Really you cand do anything against chopters or fighhters, probably the reason because a lot of people plays on infantry only servers. The balance in BF 2142 better but the maps are worse.

Another excellent fps mp is Quake Wars; very balanced mechanics, asymetric bands, very teamwork oriented, but at the same time a noob with low accuracy can be really usefull in his team in task of launching deployables, support artillery.

Also COD 4 has a great mp, with unlockable contents, character customization and intense firefights, but the maps are a bit small and overpopulated.

In the rts two things: the Dawn Of War series and in some moment in the near future Starcraft II. Also BF 3 will arrive at the end of 2008 or in some moment of 2009.
