Saw this on Evil Avatar and a few other sites. OFP2 2008 Really looking forward to it. Armed Assault was a huge let down to me. Kind of glad that BI is not working on it. Here is a shot that was included. Hope CM can deliver. Suspend me if posted already. Edit: Just saw the Gamespot Link

I can't wait for it either :) Personally I enjoyed Armed Assault, I suppose I'd consider it "Operation Flashpoint 1.5".

Agreed, I also loved ArmA, although this isn't Bohemia behind OFP 2. I hope the Codemasters guys don't dumb this down for consoles.

Ugh....Please tell me they're not making it for consoles... If so, at least tell me they're going to finish the PC version first and then release the dumbed down console version later on.

Yeah, I don't know why you'd be glad that BI isn't working on OpFlash 2.. they were 100% the creators of the first Operation Flashpoint games, and Codemasters published it. What this is like is, say, Company of Heroes. Relic made it, THQ published it. After this, say that hypothetically Relic moves on to work with Vivendi/Sierra, but THQ still owns the CoH name. Relic's off making a new game, and THQ tries to create their own game called Company of Heroes 2. The name is all it has in common with the first game. This is also what happened with Everquest -> Everquest 2, Fallout -> Fallout Brotherhood of Steel, Far Cry -> Far Cry Instincts, Ghost Recon -> Ghost Recon 2, and to an extent C&C -> C&C Generals or Thief 2 -> Thief 3. The people making the sequel were not the same people who made the original, and the publishers more or less cashed in on the name to varying degrees. The sequels often got trashed in direct comparison to the previous games. To be fair, sometimes this does work - R6 Rogue Spear -> Rainbow Six 3, R6-3 was made by Ubisoft and turned out to be a pretty good game - even though they got rid of the mission planning. Far Cry Instincts had some good gameplay additions over the original. And I liked Thief 3. It does sound like Codemasters is putting some real effort into the game, though.

I'm also glad BI isn't working on OFP2. I just played the demo of ArmA and let me just say, I saved $40-60 bucks CDN.

What is it so many people don't like? I mean, it's just an evolution of OpFlash... most of the stuff I see people roasting the game for the original did, too. It's like they'd rather just play GRAW on the 360 and call it a day.

mostly because it's photoshopped to high holy hell. :P heh.. i don't think it's really a screenshot, though it's using some ingame bits

Even if not, Operation Flashpoint 2 probably won't be on shelves until mid-late 2008... .By that time the graphics in those screens are going to be pretty standard, if not a little outdated.

yeah.. i'm not a fan of target renders, though. it's more or less exactly what sony pulled with the ps3! i'm biased in the case of this game. i'm vaguely in disbelief that people are already looking forward to the game based on just the name alone, when the people responsible for giving that name the pedigree it has are elsewhere making different games. it's like.. augh. the name doesn't make the game, the developer does. so if microsoft announced total annihilation 2, being developed on the AoE3 engine, you'd see people saying 'this is awesome, i was disappointed by supreme commander, now this game is going to be awesome!'

I'm playing the US demo off 1.06... but I think GoGamer's been selling the European/English release for a while for those that couldn't wait. And there was an old demo that was based on the 1.03 code that really sucked.

OFP and the Expansion pack is one of my favorite games. I might even have to reinstall it because I have not played it in years. Anyone know some of the mods for it? I have heard that there are some very good ones.

Digital distribution of course :) I bought the Czech version about 4 months ago.... The dialog is still in english because you are playing as US soldiers..All you need is the english patch to make the text english as well.
