you'd have to play them, because u either hate them or love them, i personally think they are both awesome, dead space being my favorite between the two, crysis people hate it because of its awesome graphics and say its only a pretty game but i think the gameplay is great too, ignore people who just want to hate things because they are popular, dead space, well i hate the camera but the game itself is great if you like survival horror games
Agreed. Must-haves, imho.I thought they were both incredible games. Crysis is very nice to look at and has some fun gameplay too. Dead space is a classic! It has some of the best atmosphere and gameplay you will find out there. Wearing headphones is a must!

Haha always fire up the Bose headphones for games like that. Those things brought Bad Company 2 and Mass Effect 2 to life. Thanks for the responses everyone. Pretty much am planning getting both at this point, just wish there was a more recent demo of Crysis was available for me to try out... Anyway, More feedback is still welcome!I thought they were both incredible games. Crysis is very nice to look at and has some fun gameplay too. Dead space is a classic! Ill put things how I see and feel them.
Crysis: Crysis is graphically a very good looking game, the base gameplay mechanics are solid, butit are not a leap in gameplay. And sometimes feel like like a rehash of Far Cry.
The first half of the game is prettyawesome, when the midpoint is reached I liked it less, It just did not click that well with me.
The story is prettybad, and characters are forgettable.
But for what it is, it is a really good game, that offers alot ofgood things, that I disliked the Alien part of the game, does not make it bad, just that it was not aimed for me.
Dead Space is another monster entirely (note: disable V.sync, to fix the mouse issue).
You should not really see it as a horror game, I would not call it that, a slower more methodical 3rd person shooter fits the bill more.
For what it is, it has really good sound design, altho a bit steriotypical horrorish inspired. It sounds like a space ship, it sounds like it is falling apart, and it sounds like you are all on your own.
The gameplay is fairly basic, it never gets swapped up far too much, a few turret parts, and such, what youd expect I guess. It is not bad, it is what youd expect.
The story is pretty fleshed out, but sort of have the doom 3 problem (in my oppinion) **** hits the fan and **** goes down quickly, there is no buildup or anything like that, just alot of screaming, and struggeling, from the clues you find.
It is quite good all things considered, It is broken up into shorter managable bites, seperated with tramrides, so there are natural break points, and each area is small enough so it wont tire you out. The visuals gets swapped up slightly over the course of the game.
You can feel a heavy SS2 influence (was it not supposed to be ss2 when they began? think I heard something like that back when it was under development)
It is not like SS2, there is not real struggeling to collect scrap to get you by, nor is thre any memorable characters, and its WAY to action oriented to compare itto SS2, but if you look at atmosphere and sound, they are very much alike.
I would get both if I were you, I am VERY critical of games, and will usually sound off everything I am not satisfied with, it does not mean that those are problems with the games, just my impression of said games.
Crysis is a must-play.
Dead Space is good. Great atmosphere and action, but gets a bit samey after a while.
Never had the chance to play Crysis, but Dead Space is pretty awesome. If you ignore the reptitive spaceship design and pay attention to the atmosphere, it's just damn great. Issac's stomping is lege- Yea, fun game~
Just wanted to lay this down here to the argument table, i just dont see how dead space is a repettive game. I mean, i just dont see it. What is repettive about it?I haven't played Dead Space as I hate repetitive 3rd-person shooters, but Crysis was a snoozefest. I actually started playing its predecessor, Far Cry, recently, and have to say FC is a much better game.

Dead Space is unplayable if you're a leftie.
One of the worst console ports I've yet witnessed on the PC.
You simply cannot remap the keys to the numpad, even with the use of a Hex editor.
Further, changing resolutions can be a chore as on some monitors, the options screen gets cut off so you cannot access certain buttons.
The game itself might be alright, but I'll never know because I can't get past the POS interface.
Unlucky dude. :( Why do you need the numpad though? A keyboard has tons of buttons.. If you're a leftie, move the keyboard to the right and use WASD? I never play anything wth the numpad myself. The only thing that I thought was a bit lame with DS on PC was the quite sluggish mouse control. It got totally fixed for me when I turned off v-sync, though.Dead Space is unplayable if you're a leftie.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think it's unplayable. My friend Reggie is a lefty...very weak at using his right hand and he loves Dead Space. I wouldn't say unplayable. Uncomfortable or awkward, maybe.[QUOTE="bogaty"]

I had fun with Dead Space. If you like horror/sci-fi and want a tense game, Dead Space fills that niche.
Dead Space is one of my personal favorites of all-time. The story, story-telling, plot, characters, combat, weapons, action, atmosphere, immersion and just overall experience was superb. The only thing that impressed me about Crysis were the graphics. Nothing about Crysis felt new or interesting to me; the concept is extremely overdone and cliche.
The people that hate Dead Space cant get over A.) how the camera is so close to your character and B.) how it is so scary
The people that hate Crysis cant get over the fact their machine A.) cant max it (what'd you expect, though?) and B.) their own limited imaginations as to how to make the most of the tools Crytek gave the player to play the game.
That is all.
Seriously.
99% of complaines about the games stem from the above reasons.
Well TC since you can get both I say go for it! I'm currently playing through dead space and loving every second of it! I've played the original Crysis all the way through 3 times. It's not because it has a solid story, but the gameplay is just so damn solid that I never really get tired of it and my gosh it still looks amazing! Dead Space is no slouch in the graphics department either, as some AMAZING lighting effects set the stage for some of the best atmosphere this gen. Neither of these games should be missed IMO
Crysis is the best first-person shooter I've played in the last 5 years, and it's pretty much one of the best of all time.
I only played a couple hours of Dead Space at a friend's house. Great production values, but it falls flat at being a horror game as far as I'm concerned. Didn't scare me at all. Also, I hated the clunkiness and the narrow FOV. Gave me a headache.
You have no idea how wrong you are about those things... i am pretty sure most people dont have a problem with the camera but the control, also pretty sure they dont think its scary. As for crysis? I think in comparison with many other games outhere, you can run it much much easier or max it too. Also i got imagination, its just that crytek did not implement those ideas in the game. Eg: carrying bodies, placing them in areas that the ai will be suprised. Or being able to switch and climb up a boat like far cry and use the mg against the other soldiers. The sequel though....holy damn i can kick cabs on aliens!!!The people that hate Dead Space cant get over A.) how the camera is so close to your character and B.) how it is so scary

Umm, Dead space is not scary, nor do I have a problem with the controls? and if you do play it in one sitting I CAN see how it can get repetetive, there is a lack of variety in the enemies, and most the objectives are the same. Looking at it logically I can see the validety of thier claims.
As for Crysis? The biggest problem with Crysis is pretty simple "Far Cry" the base skeleton of that game is identical, there was no Wow factor since we allready did the same thing before, name me a thing in crysis does better then Far cry in open the open ended department? yep, nothing, it is alot more restricted then Far cry ever was.
The suit powers were nice, but not really the game changer that people make it out to be, Stealth was fun, but seen so many times before, strength? seen before and used far better in other earlier games, speed (well its called the shift butten in most games), and armor which is the default, is pretty average.
I doubt alot of people said Crysis was flat out bad, but you really can't ignore that Crytek basicly remade Far cry. The story was really bad (to the point where I wonder if it was intentional to make t hat B-movie feel) sound was good, and basic gameplay was good, but not new.

This Crysis was ace in all respects. Dead Space is massively hindered by the close FOV and isn't very scary. Even Doom3 was more scary than DS.

Crysis was far cry but inferior. Glad the new is in NY.The suit powers were nice, but not really the game changer that people make it out to be, Stealth was fun, but seen so many times before, strength? seen before and used far better in other earlier games, speed (well its called the shift butten in most games), and armor which is the default, is pretty average.

There is nothing in crysis open ended department that far cry had not done better already. If anything it felt more restricted. The maps in far cry were much bigger and with less limits. Crysis on the other hand felt like you were moving on the island via a path and did not gave you the idea that the island is big.
The suit powers were.... yeah whatever. I was not impressed. If anything they were all underpowered. Stealth was ok but you couldnt get to the other side of the road without the energy running down. Speed was a faster sprint mode that lasted for a very short amount of time. Basicly useless. Strength was just meele and hl2 gravity gun only weaker and armor? It hardly made you feel tougher than you already were. 1-2 hits diffirence, big deal.
Also i agree that crytek remade far cry, i mean, people did complain when the monsters poped up halfway in the game right? Well guess what? They did it AGAIN!!

crysis is the finest shooter ive played in years and its pretty much down to its superb dynamic and adaptive gameplay, combined with jaw dropping graphics. it's also never really given credit for its ability to be played as almost a pure stealth game.
dead space is a well polished, fun to play and lovely looking make-you-jump type horror game and well worth a play especially before the sequel lands at the end of january
Dead Space is a sub-standard generic shootermarkop2003RIght, the setting is generic, the weapons and the suits and the hud is generic. The story is generic, the gameplay is generic, everything is generic. Might as well forget the kinesis modules, the zero-G and the inventory system along with the cash and the buy-sell menus and the upgrades and also shoot to the body instead of the limbs because everything in dead space is so generic
Both are awesome games. I don't understad the hate about Crysis, really. It's a cheesy shooter. And it's awesome at that. I haven't played it in a while, but it still left me impressed and I've played quite a lot of FPS's.
Dead Space is a modern version of System Shock 2, in my opinion. And I love it. I've finished it about 3 times (2 on PC for sure and once on the 360), and it's always like the first time I've played it.
