Im looking for a decent pair of headphones to use for gaming almost exclusively. Budgets no more than $100 with a mic, so I'm not expecting the world or anything. I do have a larger than normal sized head. Anyway, just trying to make the right choice for a headset. Any suggestion or helps more than welcomed.

Also looking at Sennheiser HD 280 and the Audio Technica ATH-AD700 just to give some other base for what I'm doing here.

I have the 700s and they are damn near perfect. Best purchase I've ever made.

Nice to hear fps, thanks. Im gonna go to my local bestbuy tomorrow to see if I can put any of them on. I think they have the Sennheisers so I'd like to test drive them since Im more nervous about the fit than I am anything else.

+1 I also have the 700's. Yes, the 700's and 900's are a steal for their price -to- sound quality ratio. They have a nice wide sound stage, which is what you want when it comes to gaming headphones/headsets. If you look around they are also mods they can be done to the 700's to further slightly improve on their sound quality.

The HARX700's are my daily headphones. They are an excellent closed-back headphone in their price range. They have great low-end without getting thumpy, and have great mid-range and upper-range without any sibilance. They do an excellent job blocking out ambient noise, and are super-comfy on my giant head (with glasses). The HARX900's use basically the same chassis, is my understanding, so I'd imagine it's pretty comfy, too. That said, if you're using a headphone surround sound effect like CMSS-3D or Dolby Headphone, a closed-back will not work as well as an open-back headphone like a pair of Grados or the Audio Technica ATH-AD700's, which are also sub-$100. It all depends on what you're looking for in a headphone; your mileage may vary. I'm very happy with my HARX700's, though I'll probably take a giant leap up to the Sennheiser HD598's (~$250) later this year. Happy gaming, Boz
