I'm faced with a tough decision on what game to buy next. I can only buy one but which one should I get? The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, or World in Conflict?

Well The Orange Box is 5 games in 1 so that's the only logical choice, but CoD 4 is better than any of those games individually

I agree, if it's only one game you can get, I'd get the orange box.

It's got 4 single player games (which will last you a long time if you haven't played Half-life 2 or Episode 1), and one of the funnest multiplayer games I've played in a long time.

All those games are good. The question is, what kind of game do you prefer? If FPS is the answer go with the orange box. If Action RTS is more your thing go for WiC.

Personally i would choose WiC. I love this game, especially online. Its unlike any other RTS i have played online. Ranked games are easy to get into and are team based so it doesn't matter if you aren't too good at it. Great online system too with achievments, chatrooms, clans etc etc.

I guess I should say what I think of all these games as well. I'm only interested in two out of five games in The Orange Box. Portal and Team Fortress 2. I have almost no interest in the Half Life series. The only problem I have with Call of Duty 4 is whether or not I will like the single player campaign. I never really liked the single player campaigns of the Call of Duty series. What I really like is the multiplayer of CoD4. I like RTS games so World in Conflict really interests me. The only thing is I want to know is whether the AI is good and is the single player hard?

my obligatory orange box vote - obligated by it being the best deal in pc gaming history and including 5 of the greatest games of all time.

Well, in that case, get World in Conflict. Getting Orange Box without playing the Half-Life games would just be a waste - you can get the two games you want individually from Steam instead. If you're iffy about the singleplayer of the CoD series, then I kinda doubt you'll like CoD4's either. I personally find it fun and intense but also short, linear and a little repetitive after about the fourth big firefight. WiC, meanwhile, seems to have both a solid single-player campaign and a popular online, so I guess you can't go wrong with that.

Umm... there is only one choice. Orange Box. You get 25+ hours of hugely good singleplayer and a multiplayer that is so incredibly addictive, perfectly balanced, laugh out loud hilarious and just so much fun. I myself have put about 23 hours into it in the last 5 days. It only took about 1 hour to usurp Day of Defeat: Source from the throne in my mind of best online multiplayer.

world in conflict is rubbish, unless of course you are playin with experience players online,

cod4, the maps are small, ranking system is far too easy and you will get bored...

Orange Box is the best one of the lot, Teamfortress2 is awesome, portal is pretty good and

to have the full HL2 experience is wicked, lots of playability...

Orange box...

Episode 2 = best single player FPS of the year and bout the same legnth of COD4 with a better story and character and better gameplay and more interactive and fun.

TF2 = best multiplayer of the year by far and sooo fun and well polished

Portal = best puzzle game of the year

+ y get HL2 which is one of the best FPS ever made and Episode one which is mediocre.
