Hell yes it is, if you can't look past the graphics there are mods to make it look better.

I've never played the PlayStation version, didn't even know it had one. I would think there'd be some issues with the inventory and interface unless they updated it. Aside from that though, it's a much slower and more experimental game. It's not a shooter like HR is really. It's more an RPG. The atmosphere and story points were better to me, and being able to just experiment with all the different gadgets and tactics were also better than HR. It is an old game though. If you have no problem with that, absolutely get it. It's pretty fantastic.

Pretty much this.

It's clunkier, but it offers a much deeper experience than HR - there are more options, more augments, more cities, more difficult decisions to make, more...everything. I think the original has a stronger story, too.

Word of warning though: the opening mission is...slow. You start the game with very few skills or tools, so you'll kind of suck at everything for a while.

YEAH! thats what i want lol, i can deal with the graphics, but if it can be fun and give me lots of choices that effect the story and such, then ill consider purchasing this, im still doing more research.

Check the blog in my sig. if you want better graphics and better AI. As a friendly advice though, you should first play it as it is until you have a good view, and if you don't like it, apply the mods mentioned.

I have to say absolutely yes. to play a sequel that is that good, but hating where it came from is like discrediting the sequel anyway. Deus Ex was an incredible game for its time and it might have been better then than Human Revolution is now. That is purely a matter of opinion, but to answer the question, yes it is easily worth playing more than a lot of new garbage, no matter how shiny or good it looks.

Deus Ex is probably the most similar game to Vampire Bloodlines that I can think of.

There's much more shooting than there is melee combat (and it certainly isn't as smooth), but other than that...they both place a very strong emphasis on allowing players to sneak/hack/shoot/explode/climb/persuade their way through missions.

Yes. Nothing has happened in the last 12 years that reverses the appeal of the original game. Unless of course technically, where you may have trouble gettting this older game to run on newer specs. But I am sure there are workarounds available. And while playing it, it will likely make you ponder why "modern" games are no longer as ambitious, or as large.

This is probably one of the most asked questions in the PC forum. My answer is: hell yes! I played through it my first time a couple of years ago and I still look upon it as my favorite singleplayer FPS experience. It's just a classic. [QUOTE="GrayF0X786"] i duno, the game just looks too clunky, especailly after playing HumanRevolution.

I only spent a couple of hours with Human Revolution, but Deus Ex is a vastly superior game. I wouldn't even call Human Revolution half the game of Deus Ex, but that's probably because I just didn't think it was a very good game.

If you play games only for how they "look", then too bad for you. And if it is graphics that all which interests you, FYI, Human Revolution was definitely not a graphical masterpiece.

It's just 4 bucks, go get it :) Ofcourse you won't get the cover system or slowmotion takedowns from HR but the game is absolutely great if you can handle some dated graphics. Takes some getting used to, but once you're in you won't get out.

Deus Ex is one of those games that everyone who's interested in RPGs/Sci-Fi should give a try. Also, I'd reccommend picking it up on PC rather than getting the PS2 version off PSN.

It's on Steam for $6, too. A million times better than the console version.

IMHO, Deus Ex is one of the worst games ever. It joins System Shock, Thief, Half Life as heralding the end of pc gaming. Don't play it, it's not

worth it. Terrible story, short and boring missions. The whole thing is over in about 3 hours. You start the game out waiting for your brother

at the Statue of Liberty. You were supposed to go on a double date with two hot chicks from the UNATCO sorority. Neither of them shows up. Instead, your

brother gives you a BFG (GEP in the game). You're so angry, you go psycho and start shooting up the joint. Later a German cyborg dude shows up. Things go downhill from there.

Seriously, don't bother.

I've played it for a couple of hours, and I just couldn't get past the bad graphics and levels. Coming from someone who has played it quite recently. For what it's worth, it isn't because it's old. I've finished Half Life last year, and I loved it.

I'd say the original is better. There's more choice, and that's what the whole franchise is about.

Same thread from a few weeks ago. Should be helpful for the OP.

As stated above, seems to be one of these every so often. And for good reason I might add. Deux Ex is my favorite pc game ever, and one of the best pc ever games made imo.

I felt Deus Ex: Human Revolution did a really good job of rebooting the series, you should try it out when you get the chance.

I have played it and want nothing more to do with it. It is not a good reboot and it doesn't deserve the title.

It's definitely worth it, though it's more RPG orientated than Deus Ex Human Revolution.

I personally think you can live without playing the orignal Deus Ex. I don't think the presentation, the shooting, the graphics(heh), and the overall game hold up all that well at all.

There are some mods out there that can greatly improve the graphics if you aren't satisfied with it's current visuals.

It can look this good and still be an awesome game:http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GLFP-JxsmhY/TkmKVYHq-gI/AAAAAAAABj4/WfHpcO3eg1A/s1600/Deus%2BEx%2BNew%2BVision%2BGraphics%2BTextures%2BModification%2BPack.jpg

Human Revolution, in my opinion, is a success to it's predecssors and worth playing as well.
