Overclocked Graphic Cards - Good or Bad?

So Im thinking about getting a graphics card off of Ebay. I have found one that is pretty cheap however it says that it is Factory Overclocked.

Is Factory Overclocked graphic cards good or bad?

What are the Pros and Cons?

I have a factory OC GPU. Depending on the game they might increase FPS by 10%. They also can run a little hot if the manufacturer does not tinker with with the cooling also.

Factory Overclocked graphic cards are good!!!

Pros: increaseed performance. higher clock rates duh!!

Cons: heat? => not really a con since the manufacturer prolly puts a better heatsink

It's fine it cost me just as much as the standard one, the fan is not loud but is on full blast a lot. if the OC is as much as a 8800GT, get the 8800GT instead.

Factory overclocked graphics cards are good for the fact that it's like getting free performance, and that they've thoroughly tested it to be stable at those above-reference speeds. Obviously, Factory OC isn't going to be nearly as high as what you may be able to do yourself, but they can sometimes be a nice starting point, specifically because most factory OC cards usually receive much better cooling than their reference design calls for.codezer0
