Overclocking Question/Conundrum

Now, I know that you are supposed to do overclocking in the Motherboard BIOS, but I was wondering if programs such as EasyTune, ClockGen, RivaTuner, NVTweak, and others actually overclock the CPU or do they just present a false number to benchmark programs such as 3DMark '05,'06 and PCMark '04, '05?

They do change it, but they're usually not very stable.

True, but sometimes its useful when u've just started your pc, and forgot to overclock, and you dont wanna restart :D.
