oh, well in that case he can downgrade to an intel core 2 duo (instead of the quad), maybe only 1gb of ram, only 250gb harddrive, and a cheaper cpu heatsink (u can find some that are much cheaper, just not as good)

The only way you could get very good performance in crysis is if you would be using a CRT monitor.

Not true, I can't vouch for the final version of the game, but I was able to run the demo in Vista at very playable FPS (25+) on "very high" settings (shaders and shadow set down on high) at 1680 x 1050 with no AA.

I think that's sig-worthy enough to make me get rid of my cashwhore sig :lol:But that PC will get no less than Medium-High @ 16x10,hell you can even play in WINDOWED mode in Crysis at a lower res if you want (I play @ 720p with my HD 2600XT)
well 1200 is my limit my pops ponied up the extra 2 bills but i hear these quad prossesers are going to become standerd real soonDJmosleyWell dual cores only recently become the standard so this way i think if quad cores will soon become the standard then octa cores will become the standard real soon as well.

Maybe he means that on a monitor that plays at 800x600 :o That way crysis can be played on very high settings but very low resolution :P

Sorry i dont consider 25fps as playable. And anyways the guy is thinking that he will "easily" play crysis like thinking it would eat crysis or something.I play with shaders, water and objects quality at high and shadows at medium with all the other settings at very high and i get 41fps.But ofcourse all due to having a CRT monitor cuz i can play in 10x7.

Oh yeah, good point :PI was just refering to how his PC could get "very good" performance in crysis. He can only get "very good" in 10x7 which can only be had on a CRT monitor.Getting a LCD with 10x7 native isnt exactly a good option at all that's why i say it can only be done with a CRT.THE TC DOESN'T EVEN WANT TO PLAY CRYSIS.
Seriously why don't you guys whip them out and measure 'em and be done with it.
To the TC: CSS and quake wars are not very demanding games.
The stuff you listed is overkill for that game. If I were you i'd get a HD2600XT and an E6750. That's a midrange card that will max those games out pretty well (CSS will max easily).
You certainly do not need an 8800 card, but if you wanted one get the 8800GT, not the GTX or (old) GTS with 640mb of vram.
this is a good set up for cs:s and quake wars

Try reading his main post again. He ONLY wants to play CSS and quakewars. An HD3850 is overkill even for those games. The reason I posted a better CPU is because CPUs have an impact on PC performance outside of gaming. Sure he could play those games easily on an E2140 too, but its nice to have a better CPU. But yes, if hes on a serious budget, I'd get an E4300 and OC it a little and add an HD2600XT.

Well i upgraded from a pentium 4 to my current rig and surely the "overall" increase in general performance was not worth it.Fortunately that was not the reaosn why i upgraded.Anyways you get the point. And besides he is obviously a gamer and maybe plays only a few games but i am sure he may play some other games as well. And are you sure that the 2600XT can put heavy AA into quake wars.[QUOTE="Thinker_145"][QUOTE="Indestructible2"][QUOTE="Thinker_145"][QUOTE="Indestructible2"][QUOTE="wklzip"][QUOTE="Indestructible2"][QUOTE="Thinker_145"]I think that's sig-worthy enough to make me get rid of my cashwhore sig :lol:The only way you could get very good performance in crysis is if you would be using a CRT monitor.

they probably wont be min req for a long time, but once software starts utilizing all the cores more youd be glad you had it, it also has great overclocking capabilities.
