I have been looking at building a new rig recently, and thought I had locked in my decision on buying the P35 DS3P.

However lately, browsing threads here and there, when people are asking for recommendations, most recommend the P35 DS3R.

Can I ask why this is?

From what I can tell, the only major differences are the DDR3 support on the DS3R (atleast the one I had looked at) and the ability to CrossFire 2 graphics cards on the DS3P. (Something I may be interested in down the road)

Is there something else I'm missing and should I change to the DS3R or stick with the DS3P?

Thanks in advance!

OK, there's like 4 different versions:
P35-DS3R
P35C-DS3R (DDR3)
P35-DS3P
P35C-DS3P (DDR3)

They're all pretty much the same, but the R has a reduced feature set such; no CrossFire support and no firewire. People go with the DS3R mainly because of the cheaper cost, really.

Ahhh I see. Well that's comforting to know, as I was pretty confident with the DS3P. I may yet change my decision by the time Intel price cuts occur, but until then, I feel I've made the right choice :P

Thanks a bunch!
