Partition without reformating - Also a question for Linux Users

Hey I was thinking of installing linux on my laptop, however I already have windows 7 Installed. Is there anyway to create a new partion without reformating?

Also which linux would you guys recommend?

Just install Linux. It will create its own partition by taking some of it from Windows. Try Ubuntu if you have never used Linux before

yes

If you have free space available then just type in "Computer Management" in the start search, then click on Disk Management. From there right click the partition you want to shrink and shrink it the number of MB that you want the new partition to be. Then from the free space you have just created create a new partition.

For first time user I would try Ubuntu. It is a very nice and easy to use Home desktop.

Right cick my computer, disk management, shrink. Install Ubuntu on largest free continous space. Wait for Magic. Grub will allow you to boot from Ubuntu or Windows.
