go on ebay an seach for dpowerseller as a username and he has great computers for 300-700 depending on what you want. if you have no problems with ebay check him out becuase right now i am looking at an AMD 6000 with 2 gb of DDR2 Ram, a 160 gb HD at 7200 rpm, 20x dvd burner with DL, 2 radeon x1650 at 512mb each, 550 w power supply and the motherboard is crossfire ready. its only $600 which is pretty good and it comes with no OS but you can get vista premium on ebay for $100 about and the case looks cool too.

Well, I added all of that up, and it came to $700 before rebates. I picked out parts that total about that much that are much better.

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138081

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103771

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220144

4 gigs of RAM is pretty unnecessary nowadays, unless you're using Vista and running memory hogging applications.

Vid Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814241066

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119068

Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371006

Before rebates: $696.92

After rebates: $586.92

IMO that is a killer computer for the price. Don't forget, you'll also need an operating system.

You shouldn't forget things like new monitor, mouse, keyboard. Most people tend to leave this out of building a new system. If you haven't already got the monitor you want or the nice keyboard & mouse you're going to buy it eventually so you might as well get it with the new system. No point in getting a nice video card without a monitor to back it up.
