Since I have installed the 1.4 patch for COD 4 the ping listings for servers in Multiplayer has gone way up. The lowest being around 250 or so. I use to get 34 or 49, etc. Not like now. I notice it is harder to get in the first shots. Others may not be as affected as I am. Their information is faster than me. My opponents see me and shoot sooner.I can still play but not like before. Any remedy? I could reinstall but I would lose my ranking. Also, I would go no higher than patch 1.3 and probably be locked out of MP for having the wrong version to play with others. Argh!!! Any other fix? Tweaks? Starting my own server may give me a great ping. Wouldn't you think? Please help. Thanks.
I experienced the exact same thing when updating to 1.5 on the original Call of Duty. Higher ping, and many games would lag like wild, whereas 1.3 would have less servers but a higher quality selection.

You're not the only one. There's nothing we can do about it except wait for another patch, which Infinity Ward, obviously, has not given us any idea of them working on it or not.
in cod4 i have a bad ping in general but it got worse with 1.4. i also dont understand why its so bad cause u have small maps with few players. i get a ping of 40 in bf2 on big maps with 64 players but only 80-90 in cod4 with 16-20 players.
Same thing happened to me. typical ping for a server in my city before the patch high 25s - low 30s. Now im lucky if I get anything under 100. Is there a way to roll back the patch without losing my rank?
The pings on the server list are also higher on mine(200-2000), but when logging to the server the ping shows normal(80-200). Just sucks for the servers which dont allow low pings so u cant even loggin...
