The consoles have a larger actual user base. Computers have a larger potential base by far, but not everyone games, and PC gamers tend to stick to a single genre. There is the more recent social aspect of console gaming which seems to appeal to the audience very much so too. Developers like that, and they seem alot of potential money in it. Computer games have to also be tested across multiple hardware configurations to insure compatibility. PC exclusives can still be profitable with good marketing, good game design/gameplay, etc, and I think the current high-multiplatformed environment for PC games isn't exactly a bad thing. The games don't really push the PC's potential (except strategy titles), but it's better that we get a good flow of good games than not. What sets the PC versions apart are custom configurations with better graphics, modding potential, better controls, higher player per server counts, and all the other perks of not having to go through MS, Sony, Nintendo to release a product. As expensive as games are to make these days, multiplatforming is necessary for many of the more ambitious might-be-blockbusters that need to have as large as possible potential user base. I think that is more or less the main drive for multiplatforming. It has it's upsides and downsides.

Many genres that traditionally were on consoles probably wouldn't find to much of a home on PC, because that is not the platform people will expect to get it on. Darksiders for example is one of those titles. It also didn't help that the PC version was released months later and announced after the console versions did. The PC version could've sold more probably if it wasn't for those decisions, but might've taken a bite out of the console version sales. FPSs, strategy titles, MMOs, Western ****RPGs and casual games all have a home on the PC because that is where they started, and do well on it. Hack and slashs, action titles, fighting games, racing games, platformers all pretty much started on consoles and even if they didn't, they are well suited for the control pads that come with console machines. Yes, you can get a pad for a computer, but most people wouldn't associate the two.

Because some games don't sell on the PC or because there is too much piracy on the PC?

or because everyone want to maximize his profits and take piracy as an excuse, besides ps2,ps3,Xbox,Xbox360,GC and every other platform got pirated games copies so why pc specifically and do not forget technical support teams payroll, yes when you buy a pc game and you got a problemo who are you gonna call not ghostbusters of course, you gonna ask them for help so minimize as many poeple as you can and then start to make some real money

just don't play RPGs what can I say? you can ask yourself the same question on consoles but a bit differ: what's with all those TPS action games on the consoles? aside that - there's no specific game genre that is mainly on the PC - you can say there's more FPS, RTS and RPG games on the PC because simply the combo of mice+keyboard rule'em all :)
