Maximum PC made a PC that played Crysis on high for around $500 (minus operating system). So spendingover $1000 will play it on very high with ease. I'm not sure if you can pay newegg monthly though you should instant message them when there on or call.

Yes it is.

Heres the $500 PC that can play Crysis on high.

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/build_a_500_pc_play_crysis_40fps

Also for a bit more you can get a better processor (quad core) and 4GB of RAM.

Almost any dual core would actually be fine for Crysis. I'd still go with a quad core though like the one mentioned above.

Any quad core will work. The graphics card is more important so get something around a HD4870/GTX260 or a HD4890/GTX275.

Well the Phenom II 955 that gamah_killah mentioned is a great Quad core that would probably be a bit overkill for Crysis (I mean you can play Crysis on high or very high on dual cores...) but would make your system future-proof for the time being anyway, since you can also overclock it quite well later if you want. I used to play Crysis on "very high" with a Q6600 (overclocked to 3GHz) and a GTX 260 and was pretty happy with the framerates

Vapor X cooling is one of the best but I think for $20 more you can get a 4890 ... you honestly don't need 2GB of VRAM.

It looks good except the motherboard is a micro ATX its rather small and with a wide graphics card you may not be able to use any PCI slots if you wanted a wireless card or something. If you won't be using them then your fine but I'd still get something like a ASUS P5Q motherboard.

I'd suggest a Phenom II x4 955 BE setup rather than a Q9550, they are more future upgradable as LGA775 is outdated now. Apart from that, a 750W PSU is more than enough for your setup, and a 4890 will be good enough on 1920 x 1080(Although I recommend 16:10 but thats just personal preference) to run Crysis on high/very high. Its a beast of a GPU and with Vapor-X it can even be overclocked much more than the other editions.

Just because Socket 1366 is out doesn't mean 775 is outdated. I had my Socket 939 for over 3 years when AM2 came out and it help up only thing I couldn't do was get DDR2 RAM. No point to beworrying about upgrading a cpu when he's already getting a high clocked quad with lots of L2.

I know how good a Q9550 is, I already have it. But no more CPUs in 775 is being made. Thats a pretty valid point, upgrading later may cause a lot of trouble.

The only reason to upgrade would be if the processor fries or dies .... other then that any Intel Quad Core isn't getting outdated anytime soon even if Octocores are coming out next year.

If you want to stay with Q9550, try GA-EP45-UD3R or its CorssfireX counterpart(UD3P I think)

Yeah.. if he go with Q9550 instead of Phenom II X4 955 + 790GX chipset :he better going with Gigabyte UD3R/P (Crossfire = P)
But if he was wanting to upgrade the one who said LGA 775 is outdated it sort of right for cpu schedule : Beside Rumour of E8700 : there no more cpu incoming

Phenom II X4 965 is about to release : and will have more Phenom II X4 Related Going-on until There Multi Core solution (Bulldozer)

If he want lot of Airflow / Overclocking : i Suggest To replace Xcilo Case by HAF932 but there no more sales on it on newegg.com
But there a huge sales of it on Microcenter 120$ : HAF932 as never being that low$$ :IT a huge Tower and lot of airflow :Rival to antec P193 in cooling but is having much less of place then HAF 932 There For HAF932 Still a King in airflow

A Pc Case of today can Last you Forever If you have Top Airflow / Huge space : I may use my CM 690 until Haf932 Become so unexpensive and necesary to put thing i would have gone With HAf932 to start with but when it just lauched it was worthing 250$CAD Vs 170$CAD : and CM 690 as low as 85$

A Pc Case of today can Last you Forever If you have Top Airflow / Huge space : I may use my CM 690 until Haf932 Become so unexpensive and necesary to put thing i would have gone With HAf932 to start with but when it just lauched it was worthing 250$CAD Vs 170$CAD : and CM 690 as low as 85$

marcthpro

so your saying i should go with a gigabyte UD3R? and should I replace the case with something else? One of my suggestions is going with aXCLIO A380BK Fully Black SECC 1.0mm or maybe a Thermaltake Armor+ or aCOOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC

HAF 922 (Brother of 932) it a little warmer then 932 but less expensive unless : you live near one of the 21 Store of MicroCenter in :P
120$ for either HAF 922 / 932

Yeah and if you get Ud3P it Crossfire in future which mean (two card) it either to you if you never gonna Crossfire on that setup just get the UD3R : else the UD3P

for that budget Id recommend you wait a month and half more and u can get the new ati dx 11 cards.

They will be able to handle crysis at very high with aa and no stutters.

I believe they will come to cost from 170 which is 5850, to 450 which is the 5870x2.

Thats how series 4 came to cost and so do series 3 pretty close, So the price wont be bad.

And with ur 1.5k budget ull be able to afford the 5870x2 which will kick the gtx295 butt.

if u want it today, get a good cpu like the 955 phenom, and good ram like ddr3 1600mhz, and get the 4850 which plays crysis at high,

ull be able to get that for under 800 dollars, and the rest u save it when 5870 x2 is realease.

I wouldnt recommend u to go sli or crossfire these days because of the microstuttering issue(most likely to be fixed in next cards), although its not common its kinda of buggy sometimes.

Look at it this way Maximum PCs computer with a dual core, 2GB RAM, and a HD4870 played Crysis on 1920x1200 with high settings no lag ... you should play it on high too or very high even depending on your resolution.

Thats fine 1920x1200 all high settings and no AA is good even 2xAA and it'll be smooth.

I'd go with Intel but the 3.2Ghz Phenom II is good.

if u want the faster ram(1600+mhz) out there phenom ii would be better since you need an i7 for anything above 1333 mhz(correct me if im wrong). if cost is a factor which it doesnt seem to be for you, get a 790 mobo (look at newegg for reviews) but if you dont need crossfire/onboard video a 770 would be fine for much cheaper and with the money you save on the mobo you can get higher end ram(ddr3 1600). also for your monitor, theres always deals out and you can get a bigger monitor for very cheap(acer and asus have sales a lot and dell's are very cheap right now. 23 inch for 165 24 inch for 199. im researching parts right now also. i look at techbargains.com for sales and newegg for their combo deals(all the good ones seem to have ended july. the august ones dont look very promising right now)

Newegg had some crazy deals on combos like the PHENOM 955 (WHICH is faster than that processor) and the video card 4890 from xfx.

Ive seen them 4 days ago.

PHENOM 955 $215

XFX 4890 $ 209 and then if you buy them together as a combo you would get a 70 dollar discount its like getting tha card for 140 dollars CRAZY.

ASK THEM IF THEY CAN DO THAT DEAL AGAIN FOR YOU. I DID THAT ONCE AND THEY HONORED ME A DEAL THAT WAS ALREADY DUE.

btw your wasting some much money on the psu, get antec power supply those never gave me trouble.

AND NO IT WILL NOT MAX OUT CRYSIS AT ENTHUSIAST SETTINGS IT WILL BE CHOPPY. that is why id recommended u to wait a month longer for new cards coming by.

It will max out Crysis on 1600x1200 and with some tweaking it will be possible for 1920x1200 ... on high settings easily though.

Well both CPUs are good but PII will be better for both future proofing and gaming. In everything else, it is even Steven. For the graphics card, I have one that is overclocked and it cannot max out Crysis perfectly smoothly at 1680x1050, so I guess that 1920x1080 wouldn't be great as well. For everything else, it looks great. But really, you lack the parts that will maek your PC good. These are my suggestions for you to correct in your PC:

CPU

Mobo

GPU

Now that will max it out.
