My system seems to always crash right when I exit a slightly demanding game. The games all run fine, and nothing happens when they are running. But when I exit back to Windows, the PC just powers off. It won't power back on until I flip the switch at the back of the PSU, wait for a few minutes, and then try again. Again, this ONLY happens when I'm exiting a game.

Specs are:

AMD Phenom II x4 965 black 3.4ghz

ASUS M4A87TD

EVGA GTX-460 SE 1GB

Antec Earthwatts EA-650

CPU and GPU usually are 50-55 degrees celcius when running a game, and 35-45 at all other times. Not sure if that would be considered "overheating".

Depending on your ambient room temps, you cpu/gpu temp seem good.

Im in a room right now at 73F and my top GPU is at 37C and bottom is at 32C. My CPU is at 37C on a stock AMD cooler.

You check your fans and PSU to see if they are dirty?

Yup, check the PSU. Maybe its the problem with the PSU itself or due to overheat. Does it crash during the game or after exiting the game? Say which and all games?

It crashes right after it exits to the desktop. I see my desktop for about a second, then it powers off. I can't list all the games, since it seems to be happening to almost all current generation games, (stuff that's slightly demanding). Some are L4D2, Crysis, Civ5, Bad Company 2.

Strange that it doesn't crash during the gameplay. Try cleaning the ram or check the PSU. Rams can also cause crashes if one of the ram(s) is/are damaged. So, if you have two, try plugging off one and playing. I can't still believe that it dooesn't crash during gameplay. Say crash means, you get BSOD or the system just turns off , something like that? Does it also occur while playing movies, or closing any apllication?

I'd assume it's either a problem with Windows (if you can do fresh install without too much fuss, try that) or your RAM, but it's such an odd issue it's really hard to say.

System just turns off. No BSOD or anything.
