If you have a relatively good pc, Flight Simulator X all the way. But if you don't i recommend IL2 Sturmovik 1946.

PS. I would include Wings of Prey but it didn't really appeal to me as a sim.

I have

FSX

X-Plane 9

IL-2 (Pacific Fighters)

DCS: Black Shark

I also have to add ARMA 2. It's the only recent game I have where I can fly in an Mi-24 Hind.

Also, DCS: Black Shark and X-Plane 9 (plus FSX) are pretty easy to find retail. Others such as IL2: 1946 are mostly digital now. Older sims I have here are MS Combat Flight Simulators 2 and 3.

They're hard to find because they're so old. But, I still hang on to them because they're still fun even though the graphics are showing their age.

I would say stay away from Wings of Prey, only because the multiplayer portion was broken as heck the last time I attempted it. As soon as I saw IL-2 on Steam, I bought it immediately. Wings of Prey has a good, lengthy, series of missions, but they are all fighter based, which made me a little sad. The other downfall is that during the missions, you don't really pilot too many different planes.
