as i've recently started with PC games, i've noticed that they seem to be greater difficulty than console games. or am i just being inept today? although i've not currently got it into a good position (keyboard + mouse actually on my lap) so that might contribute to the difficulty, and possibly my choice of games (so far Company of heroes and Crysis) are harder than their console counterparts?

Thanks guys

If a game has quicksave, then I play on the Hard setting. If there's only a checkpoint system, then I play on normal. I also go by what reviewers & other gamers say about the difficulty of a particular game.

I didn't think Crysis was that difficult. I've heard RTS fans say that Company of Heroes is one of the more difficult RTS games.

Just kidding about the vote that you're inept, btw :P.

Overall, I would say that PC games are a little easier because, imo, the controls are easier to deal with. You can particularly tell the difference in controls when comparing consol games that were made into PC games (stuff like Halo).

it's alright about the vote, i put it up there for those who like to larf :P

i haven't actually played any multi-plats on my PC yet, i suppose that would've been a good way to compare instead of games that consoles either can't or shouldn't play (rts on console is no no)

Crysis isn't particuarly hard, although I admit it has some difficult parts.

I would say you are just inept :P

don't a lot of console FPS's have auto aiming or something because it's too hard to aim accurately and fast with a joypad????

Cheers :D

maybe when i get used to it and get an actual surface to play on it'll get easier, but at the moment it is a bit. perhaps i'm wanting to rely upon the auto-aim function that someone else mentioned is on console games.

just a slightly different set of skills, crysis for example relies on that precision with the mouse, many fps games on console obviously don't. RTS games are harder that many other genres to begin with.

You... You have the mouse on your lap? How does that work? Do you just move it along your leg or something? The floor? A wall?? I'd say, yeah, you're kind of gimping yourself with such an awkward way to use a mouse. Carrying a 2lb. box around is easy, unless you decide to hold it between your legs while walking on your fingertips. :P

much harder online and offline

for example online Halo2 to me is easy..but Couterstrike provides more of a challange IMO, and games like Quake3 have such huge diffculty in 1v1 and TDM

Stalker is a pretty hard FPS, and no other FPS this gen really provided any challange for me..

so overall i find PC games much harder and a tad more challanging

That's still a little awkward. Do you have anything like a TV tray? Pull up a chair and unfold a TV tray, put the mouse and keyboard on it... That would work.

Easier IMO. Mouse and keyboard are so much better than gamepads.

they're about the same. PC games are a little easier thanks to quick saves and FPS games have better aiming precision. thre hasn't been a single FPS game that's given me too many problems (when it comes to single player).

though most of the absolutely ball-breaking hard games I've played would be on consoles though (Ikaruga and Ninja Gaiden... oh, god). even Halo 3 and COD4 (played the 360 version) have rediculously hard parts. Even if i played such games with a mouse, there are things there that a little extra precision can't fix.

PC games SHOULD be harder - shooters and RTS any ways - because we have betters stuff to control (mouse and KB), other genres are roughly the same

it's nice of y'all to have restrained from calling me inept, apart from 5 of you. it's gotten easier, i've got used to the controls a bit, and put up a temporary table so i don't have k/b & m on my lap. I'm not that inept folks, i've gotten lots further in both games :D

I haven't played a game on any of todays consoles so I have no real way to compare. My general feeling is though, that for a lot of games that are targeted at a large audience (like multi plat games) devs seem to be overly cautious not to frustrate the casual gamer thereby making games too easy. As a consequence I often find myself cranking up the difficulty on a lot of games to keep them interesting.

games on PC are harder because the age group is older but also because PC games are able to have MUCH more content.

Hmm... I don't know. In my experience PC games tend to be deeper, that doesn't necessarily make them harder though. It depends on the type of game really. I would say that PC FPS games are harder online and easier offline, strategy games are harder on the PC period (unless you consider the typically crappy controls for consoles) and RPG games are even.

I also think it depends heavily on the specific game. I mean, most FPS games I've played are better on PC because of the mouse and keyboard. The one game I found to really have better controls on consoles was Assassin's Creed. The controls for the 360 version were just perfect. I also think that racing and sports games are much better on consoles.

it depends on the game, I think PC games have more setting for difficulty though
