PC games at brick and mortar stores are coming to an end. The retail box will be still avaliable on the internet.

It had better be, because I won't drop $40 or more without physical proof I own the game.

RPS doesn't represent the PC gaming world, not even a fraction of it, of course, people that go on RPS would vote DD, but in reality, even tho DD is becoming more and more used, retails have a higher lead. And retails will "never" disappear, maybe from stores but not online (the main reason we don't see many retail PC games in stores in many countries - in Europe at least)

Seems to be up from about 26% in 2007, but that was a PCGA survey.

Yeah, that was JUST a survey of rockpapershotgun voters. Kind of unrepresentative of the full market out of there, sort of if Valve did a Steam survey about 'who buys digital' and then announced that 100% of people buy DD. :D

I hate digital distribution. Can't sell the game after you're done. I'm trying to get rid of my Steam account on Craigslist, since I have no way of selling the games on my account any other way.

I agree...I buy all my games either at the shop, or through ebay. Then I sell them on ebay. I hate waiting for the game to download....and I like how the box looks on my shelf. POWER to THE RETAIL BOXES !!!

Yes. I use amazon though, as it's more reliable and the bidding component annoys me.

I have to say, I also prefer the retail box over a downloaded game. Id rather have a physical dvd in hand as proof that I own it and after i am done playing it, I can sell it again. Unfortunately, this is exactly what the industry doesnt want us to do: the ability to re-sell our games. Re-selling games means zero income to the game industry so they want to prevent that somehow. Steam is a perfect example of a "DRM" scheme that actually works but it infuriates me that I cannot sell a game that I now longer want to even play. I do have a steam account, but only will buy games on steam that i know i would most likely keep playing forever (TF2 never gets old)

if all games could only be downloaded then wouldn't sharing and piracy become more of a problem?
