PC gamers, Best Rpg this gen?

The PC has had quite a few exclusive rpgs as well as the definitive versions when they are also on consoles. Since 2005 till the present, what do you think are the best rpg this generation is? Is there a next Wasteland, ultima, fallout etc this gen?NationProtector

Skyrim...lots of mods! 

Well in 2003 you had Temple of Elemental Evil and in 2004 Vampire: Bloodlines.

Dragon Age Origins wasn't terrible I guess (for a modern RPGs that is, compared to older rpgs it still leaves alot to be desired) 

Witcher series

Skyrim, Deus Ex human revolution, Demon and Dark Souls. Those were the best imo. Under those then it's Dragon Age series, Witcher 2, Fallout 3.

Those would be my personal favs probably, I did also enjoy Drakensang and Risen 1 to.

Looking forward to Project Eternity, Divinity Original Sin, ShadowRun Returns, Dark Souls 2, Grim Dawn, Witcher3 and new Torment.

• Best sandbox: Oblivion
• Best story-driven: The Witcher
• Best MMO: World of Warcraft
• Best dungeon crawler: Diablo 3
• Best action RPG: Dark Souls

Mass Effect 3, Wii U

Female Shepherd > Male Shepherd.

Playing on the Wii U was just a great way to finish of the series.

What kind of RPG? The genre is so varied its hard to pick a 'best', so I'll sort them in groups.

Isometric Party Based: Neverwinter Nights 2. Despite the camera I really liked the OC, especially the trial, and Mask of the Betrayer is one of the best written games I've ever played.

ARPG: Torchlight II, its really varied and hits all the right spots for my loot grabbing urges. With synergy it becomes the best ARPG after Titan Quest.

Third Person: Dark Souls completely blew me away and set the standard for third person RPGs.

Open World: Fallout: New Vegas. The real Fallout 3, not much else needs to be said because the game speaks for itself.

Turn based: I honestly haven't really liked any of the turn based games I've played this gen. 'Stacks' in King's Bounty encourages spamming units and not focusing on the actual battles (same reason I don't like HoMM and prefer Disciples). Eschelon Tries way too hard to be old school while not bringing the old charm to the table, if I want old school I'll pick up Fallout or World of Xeen ffs. And Spiderweb games are all mediocore at best, outside of Geneforge which is OK, because Jeff rushes them out. The only one that I could stand for more then a few hours was Persona 3, which is odd because I usually don't like JRPGs overly.

Lots of good ones but I think many are good games but don't necessarily have very strong RPG elements. 

I think Fallout: New Vegas is the best RPG since it has both strong and diverse character building and branching story lines with multiple factions etc., many 'rpg's this gen have one or the other but not both. 

Other than the fallout games there hasnt been a great one worth playing in a long time IMHO.  Alot of people mention Dragon Age, i personally thought that game was terrible having played baldurs gate games prior to it , horribly over simplified and dumbed down in comparison...perhaps largely due to the game being console release too.  There is some nice stuff on the horizen though....comeing from kickstarter backers.

Dragon Age, Fall out 3, Demon Souls, Diablo 3, Ni No Kuni, Mass Effect series, and I know I will be hated, but I liked Too Human.

They are not all PC, but those were my favorites accross the board.

The Witcher 2

Dark Souls (even though i've only played it for 10 hrs so far), I fell in love with it

Best:  The Witcher 2, Skyrim, Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout New Vegas, Neverwinter Nights 2, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3

I didn't care too much for these:  Dragon Age 2, Dark Souls, The Witcher 1, Mass Effect 1.

No, you said, "is there a next Wasteland, ultima, fallout, etc..." nowhere in your original post does it imply, "will there be other games as highly rated..."

In his defence, bussinrounds gave you a list of games coming out that are supposed to be "spiritual successors" to the games you listed (and even quoted your grammatically ambiguous post). Hell, Wasteland 2 is a direct sequel to one of those games. I'm not sure why you're acting like such a douche about it.

Skyrim/Fallout New Vegas. I have put over 2 years of time into these games, and still haven't finished the main quest.Travis_Odell

That's awesome.  Savor 'em!

I stop and think about this and realized what a sad state RPG's are in at the moment (for my liking).  Well...there are a lot and many are very good, I just don't feel any of them BLOW ME AWAY like Diablo II or....well come to think of it I guess in terms of PC RPG's not many blow me away in general lol.  I still need to play TW2 (stopped playing TW1 because of combat boredom) and TW3 looks amazing.  

Path of Exile would probably take it for me this gen, but there are many contenders.  Too bad Diablo III has a crappy end game at the moment.
