Hey I believe that PC Games have no region locks in place, but I'm not 100%, so are there any region locks?

I'm just asking because I want to try and buy some games from overseas (I live in Australia) because they can be cheaper.

There are for certain regions. Try getting a japanese game and see if it will run on your PC.

It will run, but that's after you've DL'd a bunch of cracking software and other stuff to make the program think that your PC is japanese.

I don't think that applies to this bloke because, as far as I know, English is the official language of Australia.

really depends on what you are talking about certain localisations do thing differently. For example some regions have starforce or securom, others have none. But in general it's not region locked like a dvd movie.

No reagoin locks on PC games...But keep in mind they do have diffetent versions on some games. So you might have to get the UK patch insted of the USA patch...

Some of the newer games can't be shipped out of the US for about 6 months after they are released. When I was in Iraq I ran into this problem constantly. The trick to getting around that is to find a company that will ship out of the continental US regardless of how old the game is. Either that or ordering from a UK based company.

no region locks, but make sure when you patch the game you get the right version. Some games produce region specific patches, which can have different copy protection between regions.

No they aren't locked. They probably are on Vista however. Anyway I've imported loads & loads of games and never had a problem.

No locks. I found a region-specific game only once in my gaming history and it was like 6-7 years ago. The solution was simple - change the regional settings of your computer to whatever country you got the game from and it will install. After installation, you can switch back your regional settings to your country and there will be no trouble.

Patches are region specific though... usually. I am in Europe and I often find myself downloading a patch from its default link which is usually a US link and then it wouldn't install, so I have to look for the EU version of the patch and download it again after that.
