Intel(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz

3.42GHz 1,50GB RAM

GFX card is a Radeon 9800 pro.

can this setup play new games even on low? sorry i'm not good with pc specs etc.

I know its not an amazing setup and its kinda old, what games can run on this setup, new or OLD that are MUST haves? tommorow i wanna buy a few games, and convert to hermit for a while!

thank you.

i'd go with the orange box (it'll keep you occupied for a long long time)

the single player portions should add to around 30 hours

i had a computer almost identical to that around teh time HL2 came out, so you sohuld be able to run the games in orange box pretty well

Its not exacly a high end PC...but it will play everything at least in some form.

I would go for the battlefield games, since their is nothing like that at all on the Consoles, as well as with a lot of RTS's.

I havn't played an RTS in my life..where should i start? IF BF2 can run on my comp then it will be my first purchase definately. I also like rpg games like fable, oblivion, would i need to upgrade my comp alot to play games like the witcher?

It depends...I would recomend WIC, but it has high system requirements, and you will probably have to run it on the lower settings....C&C3 is great for bigginers.

It probably wouldnt even hurt to play the older RTS's like Warcraft 3, and Starcraft...yeah their old, but still very fun.

Once you get better, you will be able to play more complex ones like Dawn of War, Company of heroes (you will probably only run this on midish settings)

Battlefield 2 will run fine, but you can download the demo if you want some assurance. Half-Life 2 will definitely run on the computer, as should all of the new Orange Box games (on low). I would recommend getting the Valve complete pack, because Counter Strike Source and Day of Defeat Source are awesome as well. There are many good RTSs available, so you just have to find what you like. I would recommend Dawn of War, as its fun and would run well, but you could also try older games such as Starcraft, Warcraft 3, or any Command and Conquer game. Also, you might want to see how newer RTSs such as Company of Heroes, Age of Empires 3, and Supreme Commander run. In terms of RPGs, The Eldar Scrolls 3: Morrowind, is fantastic, and much better than Oblivion in some respects. As far as The Witcher is concerned, I am not familiar with its requirements, so I can't provide any assistance. Anyway, you are in for a treat with all of these great games. Enjoy!

Lucky you getting to play ALL those games for the first time...I had fun over the years with RTS like Starcraft, Warcraft, Battlefield 1/2, Panzers 1 & 2, Rush for Berlin, Red Siege, Company of Heroes, Many of the Sim game are loades of fun like civilization III, Age of Empires, Railroad Tycoon...just to name a few...im sure im missing some...there are some very fun flying games out there....Head up..Go to like Target or Walmart if you want to buy new and check their jewel case games which alot of the games will be just the case and no box. I picked up 5 older games right before christmas for $50 one of which had 3 games in one. and a second had 2 games in one case..so i got 10 games...

The best part is most if not all the games will be DIRT CHEAP!!! You might be able to pick em all up for the price of one when they were first released!!!

I had a very similar system and could play all the games listed no problems except Company of heroes....

Vampire The Masqurade Bloodlines. I was playing this at 1600x1200 with a 6800GT and your processor! Besides, its an awesome game.

You might actually be able to play the witcher at super low (if you card has a tv out, hook it up to a t.v and run it at 640x480. If you want good settings)

Orginal Half life and Counter Strike. They will run on anything.

Morrowind was very awesome.

Battle Field 2 will run, just not at high settings.

What kind of monitor have you got?

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (make sure you apply the official patch and latest unofficial patch)
The Orange Box
Far Cry
Mafia
Counter-Strike Source
Call of Duty & United Offensive Expansion
Unreal Tournament 2004
SWAT 4
Max Payne 2
Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War
Freedom Force

the card is old but and is usually listed as the minimum requirment for games out right now so u should be able to run any game albiet u will have to comprimise on graphics. and dont expect great performance even then on the newer games.

not any game, the card is a sm 2.0 card, many newer games require sm 3.0, you can check system requirements lab or you gamers to be sure

Far Cry, Doom 3, HL2 are good games I'd start with.

System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Homeworld 2, Rise of Nations, Age of Empires III, Freelancer, WoW, SWAT 4, Sid Meier's Pirates!. Thief, Total Annihilation, Civilization 4, and Galactic Civilizations 2. Should be able to run all of these on Max, and they are all great games. There are other good games, but I personally vouch for all these. They are the ones that Never leave my system, no matter what other ones go on and off at will. Be warned about Civ games though, you see that 28 hours in my sig, Yeah, thats from 1 skirmish in GalCiv, and I`m nowhere near done yet.

If you've never played PC games, you should start with the old classics. Check your local stores for Best Seller series and old game collections. They are cheap and better than most new games. Don't be afraid of the dated graphics. You could start with the Command & Conquer: The First Decade, Fallout Collection, Forgotten Realms Deluxe Edition and Heroes of Might and Magic III-IV Complete.

PC games never die. There's tons of games that are still getting patches after several years like Ultima Online and Starcraft. Some other games like Fallout and Baldur's Gate are patched by the community.
