Hi, I have recently played Uncharted 2 on my friend's PS3 and it is amazing. It has great puzzles and a great plot and storyline. I don't have a PS3 so I was wondering if there is any games for PC similar to Uncharted 2. Thanks

Hi, Thank you for the comments and suggestions. I can see why the Tomb Raider recommendation as the plot is also similar, I have not played the new ones but will check it out. What makes Uncharted so good is that is not all shoot shoot or run run, LOL :) it almost feels like a movie unfolding. (I have heard there might be a movie made also) I will check out Tomb Raider and please let me know if you have any more suggestions :) Thanks

He can't get any more serious. Lara croft is a female rip off of Indiana Jones Uncharted is a male rip off of Lara Croft... Being a rip off doesn't mean a bad thing. Uncharted is really good and in some points, better than Tomb Raider. Try Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary and Underworld. They are great games, though a little glitchy.

Only in the very broadest sense: its about an adventurer. Both Uncharted games have far more emphasis on being a cover shooter, which is certainly NOT what Tomb Raider is about. Secondly, it has a far more playful tone to its narrative.

That...and the fact that Chloe is FAR more attractive than Lara Croft will ever be.

Uncharted:

Tomb Raider:

  • "The central character in Tomb Raider is the British archaeologist Lara Croft, a female adventurer in search of ancient treasures."

It's a rip off.

And both are Indiana Jones rip offs like another poster said.

As a big fan of Uncharted series......NOTHING. Seriously, NOTHING. Too bad, something similar would have been cool Oh well, perhaps dark sector. But the puzzles and story work kinda diffirent so... nope. Also NO ucharted is NOT a tomb raider ripoff. I played tomb raider, its a third person shooter with autoaim that you spend tons of hours aligning yourself to your jump point, dodging wild animals and have NO sense of story or interaction with other characters apart from the start and end of every level. Uncharted is like prince of persia when it comes to climbing and cover style combat system with metal gear amount of cutscenes and dialogues.

So all they did was take Tomb Raider, make the narrative lighter, and add a cover system.

It's so freaking obvious that the game is Tomb Raider with a male lead.

I think it feels tomb raider inspired and done right rather than totally similar so I agree to an extent. Tomb Raider games never improved greatly and I feel they played on Lara Croft too much and instead missed the chance to make it like Uncharted which is you could say a superior version and better all-rounded and what tomb raider could have been.

Id reccomend prince of persia 2008 as well, decent platforming set pieces, some puzzlez and it has that cinematic hollywood blockbuster vibe to its narrative. Or better yet any of the older Sands o time prince of persia games... Sands of time is probably one of the best action adventure games to date with its great game mechanics and beautiful storytelling.

You know, as a PS3 gamer gone PC, I have a hard time finding an Uncharted equivalent. Some have said Tomb Raider, and while there are some similarities Id say that overall Uncharted has a much different feel. Tomb Raider is slow and clunky, Uncharted is fast, explosive, and smooth (Yes, ive played Anniversary and Legend).

Dont get the Tomb Raider games expecting to be playing Uncharted ver1.5. If you want an experience like Uncharted, well . . . youd have to get a PS3 :P

Ive noticed that PS3 games focus more on being one hell of a movie-coaster ride while PC games are gorgeous and expansive. I love both but PC has my attention at the moment.

So are you saying Farscape and Andromeda (Can I use any less popular tv shows?) are the exact same thing meaning whichever came second was a rip off? Both revolve around a human and a place unknown to them dealing with aliens and new factions. Both main characters wish for a way home and try to do the good thing by making the galaxy a little bit better.

The premise means nothing when the actual events and how they are done are completely different. Tomb Raider is foremost a puzzle platformer while I would say Uncharted is a platforming shooter. There aren't really puzzle elements to Uncharted and the shooting elements are just as emphasized as the platforming.

I loved Andromeda, i like Kevin Sorbo, first 3 seasons were fantastic, then it all went downhill.

I guess your point of view is fully understandable regarding the rip off aspect.

I'd rather play Uncharted than Tomb Raider, really. Never found the appeal for it. The former is a truly unique experience and truly feels like a movie.

Yeah I know where your coming from but rip-off also implies negatively which is why the hostility.

The premise of the two games are similar. I don't think anyone is trying to argue that Uncharted isn't a better game and with its gunplay & cinematic narrative and overall which is what I was referring to before. I feel Lara Crofts appeal was banked on too much and their focus was mainly puzzles neglecting everything else. They never seemed to get the camera right. TR was the only sort of game for years before Uncharted came along and showed the way.

I think what is trying to be said is they have similar roots thats all. When you think of either game whats the closest game you can think of. To the guys who are saying its unique I agree because it does everything better than TR you can't compare it like for like but like BL has said there is that basic similarity. Its not a "rip-off" in that sense as Phelaidar points out

Haha... you guys are classics. I own a PS3, and have played both Uncharteds. There is nothing really comparable to them on PC, except games like the Tomb Raiders. Are they exactly like each other? Of course not, but we're talking about PC games that are simlar. You all need to get over yourselves, you want the exact Uncharted experience? BUY A PS3! :P

Hmm, now that you mention it, its the same voice actor and you run around with a girl. so it felt kinda similar.

As a fan of both shows. I can tell you right now and right here that they do things in completly diffirent ways.

Farscape is more alien and weird with jokes and they are not part of some great faction. The ship is organic and has no weapons and the main character is a scientist and not some superhero or a warrior for that metter.

Andromeda is very diffirent. It tries to be serious but it never reaches anything specific. Its casual, the ship is an epic battleship with an AI and the main character is some kinda war hero that does everything by the book and he tries to be too good in his actions like he is worrying about his karma. Honestly this is the perfect example of something done in completly diffirent ways.

Hi all, Wow, I was not expecting to kick start world war 3 with this post :) Thank you for all the recommendations and opinions. Looks like I will be playing a lot of demos for the next few weeks. As previously mentioned Prince of Persia looks like a good option as well, I loved the movie and that is kind of what I am looking for, something set in ancient times.... throw in a bit of archaeology, myth, captivating storyline, not too gory but with enough action scenes... puzzle/adventure. The Indiana Jones suggestion also looks promising. I don't mid older games but part of the beauty for me personally is hanging or standing on the top of a high building and admiring the scenery/graphics, kind of like assassins creed... that is what I like about the Uncharted game. I am not really interesting in a game that I must complete the level in the shortest amount of time or with camera angles where you do not get a chance to appreciate the surroundings. Again, thank you for the comments and suggestions. I will try to play the demos where possible and will look at gameplay on youtube. :)

Not really any games on pc that are like Uncharted.... One of the only reasons i own a ps3 is for Uncharted2 and Heavy Rain :D

still use my PC way more for gamign then my ps3 or xbox, but there are a few nice exclusives for consoles.

I would suggest tryign some of the old school advenutre games. They are not as cinematic or crazy grpahics as Uncharted, but some very good adventures to be had in games like The Longest Journey, old school Police Quest games, 7th guest and games like the old Broken Sword.

Actually uncharted is a rip off the book The Lost Horizon(1933).
