Is it just me or is there a definate decline of pc games. Look at Battlefield:Heroes a free game that has lovely cartoon gfx but with 2maps, 3rd person view and micro-management it isnt looking good. I would love to know why we didnt get Battlefield:Bad Company as there was enough interest in BF2 on the pc, so why has the PC being given the back door with the new game.

You only have to look at the amount of good games that are coming out and the majority are coming out for the consoles! This has to do with all the idiot pirates who has killed another platform for gaming. Why should a Dev team sell a million or less on the PC but can sell 3-4 times that amount on the consoles.

I can only say that if there was an option for a keyboard and mouse to be able to play on the consoles then i would think that allot of PC gamers would move over, but it would only work if all the game makers would place the options in the config to use them.

Consolls are taking over then they PORT it to PC later a 360/PS3 game is twice as expansive as a PC game so if they want to make money 360/PS3 games first is the way to go.

Have you even played the Bad Company beta? the game is pathetic and barely resembles a battlefield game.

That and Battlefield 3 is coming ... how is this a decline?

I don't think any PC gamer cares about Bad Company because thay have BF2, a real Battlefield game that a lot of people still play. As a matter of fact it's still the best MP shooter and it's been out for almost three years. Also, Spore and Starcraft 2 alone kill every console lineup. This has nothing to do with piracy as well. PC games are known to sell a lot better over time. I posted a link a while back of Sins of a Solar Empire selling more than 100,000 copies in 2 weeks and the game had no copy protection whatsoever.

And your last paragraph is seriosuly a load of crap. Consoles have weak hardware and won't be able to run games like Crysis. Also, PC gamers would never switch because of games like STALKER, Company of Heroes, The Witcher, etc. Those games will never go to consoles because of it's strict PC interface.

hmm battlefield heroes will get more maps over time, it looks fun and its free so whats not to like.

battlefield 3 will be out next year i guess and thats the game i really want

battlefield bad company won't sell that well on the PC, its going straight for the console crowd.

but in terms of FPS games, the only PC exclusive this year is stalker clear skies, i can't think of anything else.

the ps3 will have haze

and don't think there are any 360 exclusive fps games

Definitely a decline. People dont understand almost all PC gaming is FREE !!! But no they pay $50 a year for XBOX live, which to me is a big rip off just to play video games.

Oh and also, PCs can handle a lot more graphics etc than those consoles usually. It would make more sense to make GOOD PC games equal to the time they put in on the console games.

Unfortunately consoles are were the money is at the minute and that means publishers jumping on the console band wagon. There are still many decent games coming out for PC this year.

first of all, consoles will get their share of piracy sooner ar later, and if you dont know it yet,

in eastern europe north africa and most of asia almost nobody buys PS2 games theyre all pirated (burned copys)

and even the consoles are modified to read pirated discs...

especially with the PS3 havin a hard drive, thats the pirates dream system...

now, as for BF Bad company, i wouldnt play this game at all, im a big fan of BF2, i like its realism and accuracy

and perfection in every sense, those kind of cartoony stuff does NOT have place on PC, PC gamers in general dont like that

and have many serious games to beat. we leave that for console gamers, cause they have no idea what hi res gaming means, and usually theyll shew on any crappy game awaiting the next big title on their console...

I think it's the amount of overall quality of games which is causing some lower sales than expected for some devs. Those are 60 exclusive titles worth purchasing and a staggering 90 including multiplats. Pc games tend to last you a lot longer than console games, including mods and you could be satisfied playing only 3~5 new pc games every year.

I really think most people tend to forget this. Sure there are over 200million pc gamers, but not everyone loves shooters and not everyone is tired of their older games. So it's only natural when most games don't sell quite as much as their console counterparts especially when you consider that console gamers seem to get bored rather quickly.

Games are ADVERTISED more for consoles, it doesn't mean they aren't there, plus it is easier for developers to focus quickly and mass produce games for consoles because they are just that a console, they make a game for it and it plays on EVERYONES 360 or what ever it was made for, why because every one of those 360's is the exact same architecture, no variables to account for, where as on the PC, they must account for MANY different variables. PC games are coming you will see.

Yeah, piracy will always exist as long as humans exist. A lot of people are acting like piracy was created when the first PC was made and that piracy will stop when the last PC is destroyed. But obviously that's not true. Piracy happends in many ways and forms and will always continue in one way or another. Software piracy is just one of those forms. If everyone starts mass migrating to consoles, the pirates will sooner or later follow. People already know how to pirate things for consoles, it's just that they don't want to bother with it that much because the PC platform is still so strong. (Yes, it's still strong. Say what you want but there are still hundreds of games coming out each year.) If the PC platform becomes weak, as in really useless, the pirates will have to look for their games elsewhere, the consoles. And then the whole piracy debate will start all over again, with the only exception that the word PC has been replaced by console.

take as an example , the R4 chip for the DS, it is doing massive bleeding to DS sales all over the world, it is only still not as developed as PC piracing.. you know, with tousands of websites and direct download links etc...

Nothing like coming back on the PC board to see such flawed logic. In Regards to the op I'm quite happy with titles releasing this year for both Consoles and PCs. Is our platform at a decline? quite frankly no I totally disagree with that analogy. Titles releasing this year and for 2009 has alot of diversity. Starcraft 2, Age of Conan and Spore exclusively are titles I'm eager to get my hands on which I'm sure will offer plenty years of satisfaction. Consoles defiantly seems to be the sweet spot for developers this generation but alongs this platform obtains support from exclusives or ports then I'm totally fine. There's defiantly room for improvements in the hardware department though :(

if you dont have a PC experience, you wouldnt know what im talking about, console owners dont know the difference between hi res and low res. they only play what they are given to play.

so yes you have to come over here to understand that when you play good looking games you cant go back to crap...

You're right. They don't understand that 640x480 is standard def. Or that 1080p is actually 1920x1080. They're actually all so vision-impaired that they can't even see the difference between a standard definition image and a high definition image. Now, if you'll kindly look at my signature, you'll notice that I own and play an xbox 360. Guess what? I also built my own PC. Console gamers are not all stupid, but platform-bigots are. I think you know what I mean.

Console gamers are pretty down there. You are a PC Gamer too, so that pretty much says it all (you're no dedicated 360 gamer). I'm sure I'm not the only one who notices the tech-IQ Drop when I head to the 360 forums.

If you can't find a good game to play on the PC its either 1 of 2 things.

1. You've played WAY too much and need a break.

2. You need to look for the games.

The games are out there they just need to be found. Thats what these forums are for. Giving and recieving suggestions on whats good and whats not. I have a PC and xbox 360 and I barley EVER touch my 360 except when I play skate. All the other decent 360 games are shooters which are more fun to play on PC anyway.
