ive been busy with morrowind and oblivion, you just have to use your imagination, as corny as that sounds, and these games can last quite longflclempireActually, I love doing just that. Two days ago I popped in my Morrowind + Expansions, got a few graphical mods, boot up the game, laughed at Fargoth, and then my game crashed. Turns out my game started crashing non-stop. And Oblivion is just...unpleasant. You might have inspired me though to give it another try - only if I didn't uninstall it! :( And GumbieuK, that's great and all but I bought Burning Crusade and wished I had my money back. WoW just isn't for me. I want to buy Supreme Commander but it's questionable.
I suppose if you are a total FPS whore.... Me? I'm sick of FPS at the moment so its good to see other genres getting high quality releases.Santas_HitmanI disagree. If by "Other Genres" you mean just RTS, then I agree. Company of Heroes, Command and Conquer 3, Supreme Commander, ect. But RPG has Neverwinter Nights 2 and WoW :BC which just don't appeal to everyone. I don't have a taste for rather extreme technical RPGs nor do I have a level 60 laying around to enjoy the Burning Crusade.
Silent Hunter IV is coming out soon too -in March?.
To poster: I know what you mean though, it can seem like it goes up and down depending on what you like. I like realisitc military games and there haven't been many lately -aa assault is coming though.

Even though I hate WoW (and all MMORPGs) with every fiber of my being doesn't mean it isn't considered a quality release by many others. Also lest we forget Sam and Max for the Adventure genre.
I think it's more of the calm before the storm... Crysis and STALKER and other things on the horizonJagg3dman I agree with what u'r saying , Calm Before The Storm . we will make every console gamer cry  with our yet to lunch games :P but still only 2 games a yr means nothing !! we need more quality games . RTS looking great though .

It is for others but not enough people for I to consider a quality release - simply because I along from many others can't benefit from them. Well, Neverwinter Nights 2 is actually very broad but just has a steep learning curve. BC is only for those who invested many hours in WoW and it doesn't really do anything for those who haven't played that much.

NWN2 is a train wreck not worth paying money for.
Of course we are in a dry spot. Winter holidays are over and summer isnt here. Just wait a few months, things will improve.
As for 2006, I know I sure had a good year of PC gaming:
-Medieval 2: Total War
-FEAR Extraction Point
-BF 2142
-Defcon
-GTR2
-Caesar IV
-Just Cause
-Darkstar One (any year with a good space simulator is a good year for me!)
-Prey
-Titan Quest
-City Life
-Hitman: Blood Money (this game made the year for me)
-HL2: Episode 1
-C&C: The First Decade
-Star Wars: Empire at War
And its only gonna get better!
Upgrading my video card and my monitor to widescreen has me revisting a lot of my old games. Though I have yet to finish San Andreas after buying it two years ago. I'm mostly into Far Cry mods and BF2 at the moment. Plus I'm downloading a lot of current and older demos and exploring genres i'm not usually into. I kinda like the down time, it gives me a chance to catch up.7ate9
Never thought of it like that, as 'downtime' but its true!
Hey, if youre looking for something new go give Darwinia a try. Best demo Ive played since CoH demo.

What bothers the hell out of me, is the majority of times when people say this is when a great shooter hasn't been released really...    When Farcry and HL2 were released (2 games mind you not the dozens that were released in recent time just as good, but not mainly shooters) there was never talk of "computer gaming dry".. RTS's and TBS's were on a high note for this year fo really any one, RPGs was a hit or miss for most.. Liek me I was really disapointed with NWN2, Oblivion, or Gothic 3, but some just love those games.. FPS's are just about non existient at this time really.. There you have it.

TOTALLY agree here...with one addition. TES4: Oblivion.
I kinda agree, World of Warcraft is old and RTS games get boring. BUT Silent Hunter 4 is coming!! I love good simulators, and the Silent Hunter games have been great. Vito25
Totally. Its gonna be hard adjusting to English speech though, I love hearing my German crew yelling and stuff.

It's been pretty dry for me to, but I think it's about to let up. We've got Supreme Commander out already, with Jade Empire and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. not far from now, and much more.
We haven't had any amazing games recently. The last time we had some truly great games released was pretty much 2004. Sure, DirectX10 is coming, and I'm more than ready with my 8800, but it still hasn't arrived. The only people that are going nuts right now are those who love RTS games. I like RTS games, but I get bored of them within weeks. Feels like months since I've played something and truly had a great time. In fact, I'd have to resort to going back to Starcraft and older games. So, what PC games are you guys playing right now and do you feel like you're getting by alright?
Letesmetty
I guess I'm one of the lucky few. During 2005 and 2006, I didn't purchase any new games. I was busy with other things, and I was trying to play a lot of older PC gamers that I never got a chance to play.
Wednesday, I just purchased Half Life 2 and FEAR expansion.  And a couple of weeks ago I bought Quake 4, which was great, and Call of Duty War Chest. Call of Duty was a great game, but United Offensive stunk, and Call of Duty 2 was very consoley for my tastes. The balance in the sound was horrible too.
There are still many games I have to catch up on: Oblivion, Condemned, and Prey, to name a few.
