I would like to buy a headset with a mic for PC gaming. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. The specs I would like are below. My name on gamespy is josh6135 if anyone wants to add me to play borderlands. thanks for any help

I would like the headset to have the following specs if possible

-under $200

-built in Mic

-5.1 sound

-good bass sound

-if they make this, the ability to also work with ps3, and xbox 360 for sound and online mic cababilities

-if they make this , adjustable volume on the heaset

-if they make this, a push to talk button, meaning you press a button so that your voice is not heard and then press a button to make your voice heard.

-ability to plug into BOTH PC sound port and headphone jack port on TV/ or surround sound system for a TV?

-comfortable earpads (leather preferable) i wear glasses so i don't want the earpads to push down on my glasses and cause discomfort

thanks for any recommnedations

I'm looking for some low/mid-fi gaming headphones as well - currently looking at the Audio-Technica ATH-AD900, ATH-AD700 and Beyerdynamic DT880. From my limited understanding of this, 5.1 headphones are not so great - although you may get better positioning of footsteps/etc, they generally don't match the sound quality of a nice stereo set paired with software 5.1. This will matter if you plan to use them for anything other than CS.

You should check out head-fi.org forums for headphone comparisons, analysis, opinions, etc. There must already be hundreds of topics there that are relevant to your question.

What is software 5.1?

5.1 downmixed to Stereo for use with headphones - but keeps the exact same audio cues as if things were coming from behind you or above/below you.

I own the AD700's and they are a truly superb set of cans, although they don't have about half the stuff that guy wants. Of main concern there would be the lack of a microphone.

sellout.woot.com just has the Razer Carcharias Gaming Headset (usually $85) for $40. I bought it, I'm curious to see how it turns out. Anything is better than the cheapies I have now.

These have been going strong for me for years, sturdy and with exceptional sound, they are also very comfortable and can adapt to fit most peoples noggin.

I have the Logitech G35s, and I also wear glasses. They fit very comfortably, and come with 3 different headband cushions so you can find the one you like best. They are 7.1, however. My only gripe is that the software is very simple. Not a lot of tweaking to be done in there. On a side note, The "push to talk" is usually a function of the game you're playing. Unless of course you mean a mute button.
