You wanna know the interesting thing about PC gaming. Even if it does die - and won't - it won't stop people playing PC games.
People will still be playing games like TF2 and CS ten years from now, as well as StarCraft 2 if it turns out great, or StarCraft if it doesn't. People will still be playing Doom and Fallout and Half Life and Diablo II and Baldur's Gate. Unlike consoles, the PC doesn't have a pre-determined lifespan. There are people getting into PC gaming today who pick up games from the mid 90s.
People will still be playing PC games from the mid to late 90s long, long after the 360 and PS3 have faded into obscurity and been replaced. Every year we get a few magnificent games that add five years onto the PC's lifespan. I've been PC gaming seriously for the last seven years, and I still have dozens of amazing games from the last ten years to play - I'm still discovering really awesome games, games like Myst and Arcanum. I can't imagine how many more there are for me to find.
And the 2007 PC lineup was just so astoundingly good that many of us just didn't have enough time to play all the games that needed to be played, and the funny thing is that 2008 is looking even better - at least in terms of the sheer number of good-great quality games coming.
If PC gaming is dead, and let's face it, you have no 'king clue what you're talking about, then it wouldn't make much of a difference to many. I'll be in my mid 30s by the time I'm gamed out on my existing library.
Now, if you look at the consoles - besides Guitar Hero and Shadow of the Colossus and Resident Evil 4, the consoles (as a collective) haven't had a single great exclusive title that didn't hit PC in equal or better quality at some point since the original PlayStation. The PS2 had three good exclusives. The Xbox had none. The Gamecube had none (I think). The PS3 has so far had none, the 360 has had none that are not coming to PC, and the Wii is very much a matter of preference.
The only good console exclusives I see for 2008 are Resident Evil 5, Silent Hill 5, Street Fighter 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4. And people complain about sequels on the PC? Heh.
