You (fellow PC gamers) have relised that PC games recently are greater than 360, Wii and especiallly PS3. But the system reqs. are getting pretty high and I don't know if I can afford it, and no I'm not some 40 yr old w/a job. So whats your opinion.

PS. I own a 360 but the piece of **** broke down, never happened with my PC :D

I think the system requirements are getting too high,I mean I've got 3 games that I want to buy Hellgate:London,Crysis, and Gears Of War. In order for me to get the game to run on my rig I have to have 1GB of ram. I won't be able to buy these games because I'm recupperating so yeah I think game developers need to lower the specs for us p.c gamers who in order to have the best gaming experience have to spend unncessary money when I could spend it on something like a movie or somethin. But I wouldn't leave p.c gaming for all the money in the world, it's just so much more you get from the games and every play experience is different than the last.

You guys need to do your upgrades a little bit at a time. About a year ago, I went from 1GB to 2GB of RAM. Around 6 months ago, went from 6800 Ultra to 7950GT video card (unfortunately, my mobo is AGP). Last week went from 3500+ processor to dual core 4400+. Just downloaded Crysis demo and it plays fine on medium to high settings. My rig is about 2 years old now, but can still handle most new games. COD 4 demo looks awesome too (and plays without any problems). Yes, PC gaming can be very expensive, but not if you do upgrades over time. Each of those upgrades cost less than the "next gen" consoles.

PC gaming can be very expensive, but is well worth it (IMO). :D

The PC has good games and it has awful ones just like any other system. I've been gaming since the days of DOS and in that time i've never felt the need to change to a different primary gaming platform.

I've been a PC gamer since I was 5, my first game memory was probably MK3, which is still to this day my fav PC game.

I also remember playing the first GTA for hours a day.

I currently have a wii, which is a bit different from the PC. Can't wait for brawl :D./

Look we all know Gears, Crysis, and other high-end games are going to be high-end, another reason we like them so much, awesome graphics. You can't get everything at once all the time. Stick with medium-high settings and gradually work on improving your gaming system. Make sure you don't spend money on gaming when it should be going somewhere else important because you'll end of in debt, which is a no no. Also those of you who wish on playing Crysis at max settings on resoultions above 1280x1024; you better wait for the next generation of GPUs because the 8800gtx is making it at the minimum.

Okay asking to have 1gb ram on your rig really isn't asking too much.. last time i checked you could get a 1gb module of ddr2 for like 50$

Ram is pretty much the cheapest cost/performance upgrade you can make on a pc

I have a E6600 with 4gb RAM with an ATI 1950xt 512mb

Every game i've installed recently runs full everything, including COD4 demo and Quake 4 demo

and that's not even a dx10 card.

PC gaming is as expensive as you make it. You could buy a used computer from 2000 and run games like StarCraft, Diablo II, Half Life, System Shock 2 and Deus Ex and have better experiences than most games coming out today.

The fact that PC gaming is so versatile is what makes it so great. And PC's do so much more than just play games, they are useful in daily life activities as well, like word processing, browsing the web and e-mail. When you buy a gaming PC you are buying much more than just a gaming platform.

The only current gen console I own is Wii. I don't need a console that tries to be a PC when I got a more powerful PC. And most 360 games come on PC sooner or later, so I'm only missing PS3 exclusive games and that list isn't long anymore :D

Pretty much the heart and soul of PC Gaming is in the graphics card. Next time you buy one, don't go for the "Enthusiast" range, go for the more "Extreme" version. You'll get a lot more life out of it.

Well, the upgrades can be a biatch, but the consoles are just way too restricted for me. If they come up with a console that isn't controlled by a greedy company that charges for online play, new maps and goddamn user avatars, has support for any controller I wanna use, has cheap games, doesn't restrict user created content and to which anyone can develop games for free and has games also in the niche genres like TBS and Space sims. Then I'll switch to console gaming, until that happens I'll stick to my PC.
