Alright well im 14 years old, and im just debating on weatherI should go into PC gaming with my 4 year upgraded and really fast PC or should I go buy an xbox 360 elite?

Im compeletly new to PC gaming, but it sounds like a lot of fun, I do have my own PC and I know it can handle games like oblivion and halo, but I really dont want to mess it up and make it terribly slow, that has always been my biggest concern. I do frequently use my PC for internet use, and also homework and projects, but I think its not a huge deal if I havea 4 or 5 games on my PC.

As for the 360 i just buy the games and pop it in, the 120 gb hardrive looks great to so I can transfer and movies, music and photos that I have to my 360 and view them their as a storage device that I can take to my friends house or so on...

The thing bugging me about getting a 360 is the fact that it is $550 where I live and the games are on avreage $60....and many can reach 70.Which is quite alot, compared to PC gaming most games are 10-20 dollars cheaper where I live ranging between 40-60 and sometimes 60 bucks.

For the games, well ima HUGE halo fan, and didnt have an xbox so i played at my cousins house, I really love FPS as well, and rpg games are quite fun, Ifi get a 360 i plan on getting: halo 3, gears of war, oblivion, unreal tournament, haze, and also bioshock and renting a few others.

For the PC I dont really know, but there is a wide variety that I wouldn't mind having. Also I dont have Vista, which is a huge downfall but If I go into PC gaming ill buy vista.

Anyway, thats about the basic description I can give, im just really stuck on pc gaming or a 360, they both have great games and the biggest downfall is in pc gaming I dont want to mess my computer and I dont have vista yet, as for the 360 the prices seem high, but the amount of space and all that sounds great. Overall, im slanting towards 360 because the games that I really want wont come out onto the PC for a year or two example: halo 3, and also I would perfer to be able to take my 360 to my friends house and play multiplayer.

Which would be better for me?

You really don't need Vista for PC gaming right now so save yourself a few hundred bucks and be a PC gamer! I'd recommend games like Battlefield 2142 or Chernobyl.

Good Luck and have fun8)

Well I recently bought a 360 and I love it... I went to ebgames and bought some cheap 20-30 games just to start out but really wanted to play Gears of War since I never had actually gone through the whole story... So my brother got it and a couple of other games from his friends and now I have a pretty good collection... Madden 07, Forza 2, Saints Row, Gears of War, Oblivion, Sonic (Its brutal), Quake 4, NBA Street Homecourt and Halo 2..... I just got the 360 Premium that comes with Forza 2 for $500 (Canadian) .... I have played they games quite a bit and am still not bored of them.... The only games I have purchased are Saints Row and Quake 4 ... Which cost $50 total..... So I would suggest you getting the 360 because you wont need to upgrade it each year like a computer and the games always run perfect.... I have a decent laptop that can handle most of the games out right now (Supreme Commander and whatever else there is (Cant remember many right now....) And if I want to continue to keep playing the new games that come out for computer I would need to get a new one that would probably cost around $1300-1600 just to play the games without the highest settings,... With a 360 you can just go out and buy whatever game you want and it will work perfectly.... Plus Xbox LIVE is just amazing... There are tons of demos to download and lots of other stuff in the Marketplace..... Its up to you but I would recomend getting a 360 just because you wont ever need to upgrade it.

Ya I have a very powerful pc as well. You can have 10 or so games on it and it will be fine. I have about 60 gigs left on my 250 gb hard drive. My pc is still as fast. Just dust it on the inside and defrag 1nc a month. Ow ya stay off the porn that may slow it down.

It really depends man, it sounds like you like alot of the shooting games if you want to play multiplayer with your friends at your house by a 360 or ps3 but if u like the whole online aspect, either would be a fine choice for halo definitely go with 360 but make sure you have xbox live which will take a few more dollars from your pocket. Online gaming is free for Pc and if you say your Pc is fast there should be no problem playing games on your Pc just make sure your online is fast enough to compete with other players. Comcast is the best i get 50 or lower ping in every server.

For a 14yr old.. I would say go with a console.. When you hit 15 you can start working and save up for a PC (if you desire to do so). But, since your pretty much reliant on your parents for a source of income, save you parents the grief and go with the console. After all when you hit 16.. you will want a car and later a college fund. Sure, I gamed on a PC when I was your age, but in actually I found myself playing with my friends on a console moreso than a PC at the time (internet access was limited to a 14.4 modem, and access in my town was kinda "limited") I have to say for me at 30, I prefer PC gaming over console, but then again, I budget and earn my own money, pay my own rent, etc. So, I can afford a nice comp. Plus, its my money, so I can do as I please. If your parents are computer literate, let them decide what is the best choice. After all it is their money ;)

Good luck!

PS: I know PC gaming isn't expensive, but it does, more or less, require more "tinkering" around with than a console.. plus at 14, he should be socializing with friends and being more "outdoorsy" :)

dude go with what u think will give ya the most bang for ur buck thats al i can say in the end its ur choice and ur choice alone and the 360 elite aint elite go with the premium and save ur self some money and yes i do have a premium and from launch and i still have memory left on my 20gbhd thats all ill say bout the elite

the reasons the elite aint elite

no hd-dvd player installed that alone is a "WTF"

no wi-fi

the machine aint intended for gamers

three 360s are too many

it will still be loud

still doesnt have the 65nm chip installed in there

I would suggest playing both pc and 360. I prefer my pc over my 360. There are many great games for both platforms.

If you can only choose one, I would go with PC Gaming. If you can, go with both. As a kid, I grew up with Sega and a PC, but I always loved my PC for gaming moreso than anything a console can offer.

PC vs XBOX:

XBOX

- Xbox games are more expensive ($60)

- There is a high number of reports about Xbox failures

- It'll become obsolete and you won't beable to update it

+ The good Xbox games look great at run at good framerates

PC

- The PC itself is A LOT more expensive than a xbox console

- Cross platform games generally run like crap, compared to similar looking PC-only game

- A poorly built PC can give you problems at some time

+ Games are a less expensive ($50)

+ Most of the games you mention will be released for PC too

+ Mouse and keyboard

I'd say 360 if you're a huge Halo fan, but if money is an issue and you already a have a good pc then go for PC gaming.

And if you do decide to go pc, wait a little while before getting Vista :)

go with PC gaming if you like...

Games with tons of replay value ( i.e. MMO's, Online FPS's )

good FPS, RTS, and MMORPG games.

and are willing to spend the money for upgrading your computer every now and then.

go with360 if you like...

lots of good games but not so much replay value.

Decent FPS's with the occaisonal amazing one. (Halo series) and Great Racing games.

Not having to Spend money to Upgrade.

Go with a PC;

1) halo 3 (the first two went to PC, this one will as well 1-2 years down the line), gears of war (confirmed on PC, with bonus content), oblivion (its on PC, with lots of great mods and better graphics), unreal tournament (the UT series is very fast paced and much better played on a KB/M, plus full mod support, dedicated servers, and free online), haze (don't know much about it, but KB/M > all for FPS games), and also bioshock (coming to PC first day with improved visuals, more difficulty, KB/M based interface, and fully optimized).

2) Right now, 2GB DDR2-800, E4300, and 8800GTS 320mb (+ a decent mobo) is a very good, inexpensive system that will run everything you throw at it for a good while. Lots of overclocking potential.

3) Vista is NOT NEEDED. Wanna know what games require Vista? Halo 2 (which was cracked to run on XP) and Shadowrun (a crappy FPS). Crysis, Hellgate: London, Gears, UT3, ect. don't need it. DX10 is worthless right now (Crysis will be the benchmark for it) as well. Go with XP until Vista gets SP1 at least.

Honestly all those games you want except Halo 3 are on the pc or will soon be on the pc and have more to them added to the pc version than the console versionsalso the games will look and play better too. You like shooters and rpgs can't get any better games in that genre than you can on the pc probably 10 pc shooters for every console shooter, at least if not more, thesame with rpgs. And you could always get a cheap extenal harddrive with a lot of memory space. The only genres that the consoles have on the pc are the sports and racing genres.

Right now, I am saving.. I spent a few bucks on upgrades.. which should kick up the resale value of this comp, when I start to sell it.

For right now it is: P4 3.6 HT (bought in 2004), 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 533mhz, Windows XP Pro, WD 500 GB RAID, DVD-RW Drive, 52X CD-ROM, X-Fi Fat4lity 64mb (upgrade), GeForce 8800 GTS 640mb (upgrade), Dual Samsung SyncMaster 226BWs (upgrade), 400 GB External Seagate HD, Logitech G5 mouse, Logitech G15 keyboard, LED (illuminated) Mousepad, Logitech Z-5300 5.1 Speakers, Surfboard Cable Modem SB5120, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Flightstick, Logitech Dual Action Gamepad, Logitech Quickcam Communicate, Altec Lansing Headset, Microsoft Strategic Commander, Nostromo Speedpad n52, Kodak EasyShare 4MP DX4900 460W PSU, Case: Dell XPS Gen 4.

I recently sold my old 2.0 comp and those details are in my blog. Lemme know if you thought I ripped her off, like Onemic stated lol

x360 has almost only shooters, but what's the point in buying a x360 when every shooter suck on a console.
