My rig is starting to struggle with new releases.

It's a Dell Inspiron 530, E8200 2.66ghz, 2gb ram, 8800gt.

I got a great deal when i bought it, for only around £300 from the dell website (excluding the 8800GT)

I'm just wondering where's the best places to shop around for hardware at a decent price?

I used to use sites like dabs or novatech, but apart from them i don't really know anywhere else to shop.

I've had alot of trouble buying electronics from ebay, where's a reliable source that will upgrade, or replace my current rig on somewhat of a budget?

Ebuyer and Scan are both good websites worth looking at. I've usually bought components from one or the other.

ewwwwwww dell

I know that's what i thought before i bought it, but it's the best computer I've ever had! Has never broken down on me... except when i put in a gtx 260.. that was weird.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Scan looks like a great shop, seems real cheap, and i totally forgot about overclockers.

cheapest is eclipse computers BUT their customer service is shocking. dabs or ebuyer are usually only slightly more but offer good service.

Bought all my components from overclockers.co.uk, great service, great weekly deals, and I've found for my next build they sell the cheapest i7 920 D0 stepping CPU.

Thanks all for the great help.

I'm thinking of upgrading my 8800gt to a 4870, but they seem to be in short supply, how does the 5770 fair in comparison?

I did have a GTX 260 for a very short time, but unfortunately i couldnt get it to work with my system, so i'm thinking of trying ATI. I thought the 4870 would be the logical choice as it's essentially the same as the 260, but uses alot less power, and power is a big issue for me as I don't run on mains, is the 5770 fairly low on usage?

I'd say the 4870 is slightly better in most cases, however, you'll get great performance with either card. I'd choose the 5770, You'll able to handle most games in DX11 where as the 4870 doesn't have DX11.

When you include the postage that can actually result in the system as a whole costing more.
