Starting yesterday, or at least I first noticed it then, my PC just lost power and then restarted itself out of the blue.... I had just downloaded Torchlight and was starting up a game and the PC just died... I thought the power had gone out in the apartment... but today, it happened again, while watching a video on Gametrailers.com.

Now a month ago I upgraded my PSU & vid card... maybe my PSU is faulty? or maybe the PC is shorting out because my GPU just barely fits in the case and the end of it is actually touching the case (where the HDD's are mounted).... but if it was because of this, you'd think it would have been doing it since I installed the hardware, right?

Anyone got any ideas? thx in advance.

Is your old PSU capable of powering your new parts? You might try it... Could be a faulty PSU, I hate problems like this, fortunetly I haven't had one for a long time :) But random cold reboots are often a sign of PSU trouble.

I'm running a GTX 275 w/ a 600W PSU... i'm pretty sure thats enough... however, I just spent the last 2 hours swapping PSU's in and out of PC's..... (had an extra 600 PSU) and my PC still wouldnt boot after the swap.... I hit the power button multiple times and BAM! away it went..... so I'm not sure whats going on.... I'm led to believe that my Power Button is faulty, bad wire maybe.... but... that wouldnt cause the system to just SHUT DOWN and restart..... maybe my system is grounding out somewhere?

I generally don't tie off unused wires from the PSU.... I just stick them somewhere where they shouldnt move and arent touching anything. I'm so lazy.

Thats weird that you had to hit the power button multiple times... does it always do that? You might want to try disconnecting your power switch after your computer comes on and see if it makes any difference. And if that happens frequently, you might want to try by passing the power switch to turn your computer on. Like place a jumper on the power switch block on your motherboard (then quickly remove it, or use a screwdriver) and if it powers up right away.
