There's a couple out there if you look hard enough.

The one that stands out most to me is the 2D fighter Melty Blood from indie developer French-Bread. Melty Blood is probably the best fighting game franchise on PC (which has now been ported to PS2 and Arcade machines.) The games and their characters/abilities are based on the Japanese visual novel Tsukihime.

I actually ordered Melty Blood Act Cadenza (ver B) last night :) ..which came out for PC a little over a month ago.

There's tons of videos on Youtube if you're interested in it. Each revision of the game for PC has also had a netplay client created for it by its fans (an added multiplayer component.) Hopefully we'll see one soon for Act Cadenza.

Edit: Anyone else having trouble posting this morning? -_-..

Yeah, I don't really mind not having the fighting genre on the PC. Have my PSP + Tekken: DR for a quick fix when I need it, would be nice if I could plug a controller into my PC and play online with people, but I've grown used to not having the option to play them on the PC, so it doesn't really hit me as odd that they're not a part of the library.

I'm pretty sure that's why pc gamers might have a 360> for fighting, sports and racing games.

Well atleast that's why I do.

I'm strictly PC when it comes to FPS,RTS and so on.

Nothing does fighting, sports, racing better than a console. In my opinion.

Maybe there aren't enough PC Gamers who enjoy fighting games for developers to make PC fighting games. I don't know the statistics. Is it possible to turn this thread into one of those polling threads? I'd be interested in seeing the results.

For the record, I'm not into fighting games.

True- Theres not a Huge fan base for fighting games on the pc- therefore the motive isnt there for publishers to fund developers who do want to produce one.

Another BIG factor is the control scheme- On a console- you use a controller of some sort. On a pc- you either have to buy a control pad or use the keyboard and mouse. Since the keyboard and mouse scenario would be very awkward for a fighting game- the publisher wouldhave tosuggestto the user to purchasea controller or they would have to bundle one with the game in order to make ita fun experience. If the game is not fun because of the control- the sales drop and then profits for the game do as well. Games today cost millions to develop, even indie games that are 2d, still run a minimum 5 digits to develop ($10,000+). unless yourbuilding a flash based web game. Then it would just require a lot of your time and expert knowledge in flash or a simliar package.+the cost of the software.

All that being said there are a couple fighting games out there for pc (because it is such a dry market), theres little competition for developers to create a game in this area.

true...but still...playing fighting game or racing on a pad also sucks. Why settle for inferior controls? Why not get a good arcade stick and wheel?

I agree with you. I would love to see some fighting games on the PC. Personally, i would LOVE to see Fight Night on PC or Tekken. The graphics and gameplay would be awesome on a Nice rig. Seriously, its so sad that the capability for great things on the PC platform never come through fully. Mods for a fighting game, DX10 visuals... Ahh i can dream eh?. Its totally do-able with the ability to play with the 360 controller as well. PC can do it all basically.....

MMM there is fully customizable fighting game (free) called win-mugen

It comes with only one character and you can add more caracheters you download, which most of them are ripped from console games...

Look for it, google is your friend

Edit: Sorry, i did not know this was already mentioned.
