First off PC specs:

Dell Dimension 2400 Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.66 GHZ 1 GB Ram

some 64 MB intel graphics card that came with the computer. I can barely run Call of Duty on low with maybe 10-15 fps.

My dad's friend just gave me the game Gothic 3 which on the back of the box looks pretty cool but I know I can't play it. I'm wondering how much it would cost and what would I need to run it with enjoyable settings. I'm a console gamer so I really don't like fps below 30. I know my computer has a standard PCI slot and we use VGA.

Thanks

If you mean you only have "PCI", and not "PCIE/Express", your screwed more or less. G3 is a pretty demanding game I believe, and your PC sounds pretty ancient and not worth upgrading.

You should check if you have pci express or not , unless you already knew for sure. If you've got pcie you oculd get a new video card that would put some new life into that pc, although it still wouldn'tbe great.

No hope?, you could either download CPU-z and see if the motherboad has an open PCI-e slot or just open up the case and look for a slot that looks like this... http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Articles/Sources/Asus_A8N-SLI_Deluxe/Images/photos/PCI_E.jpg. The black a blue color slots are pci-e x16 slots which all modern vid cards interface with. Actual color may very.

That computer has nothing but standard PCI slot. You'll have to get a new computer if you want to play anything but really old games... (not even sure about that didn't look what igp it has)

I have that rig downstairs. Its the family computer thats used by only one member of my family; my dad. Mine has 512mb ram rather than 1GB thats the only difference. I can guarantee you now, there is no way you can improve the graphics. Any PCI (nonexpress) graphics card that beats the intel onboard 92945g is too power demanding for the computers psu. Give it up man! sorry.
