Which is better for gaming ?

umm, PC no contest, and no subjective oppinions, the hardware in Laptops are not on the same standards of a Desktop PC due to the power limit of the laptop.
There is no such thing as a gaming laptop regardless of specs. coulyWell you're wrong. There are a lot of laptops that can run anything out there right now, hell I think they showed an Acer laptop on attack of the show that was running Crysis at max settings.
PC by far

I have played games on a very high spec Alienware laptop, and while it can play games well, it has kinda stopped being a "lap"top due to the size, weight and heat it creates.
Can't tell you what is right for you but in my situation I always believed in the upgradability of a desktop PC. Funny thing is I never upgraded it before new architecture made it obsolete. I was always behind the bleeding edge of technology because my motherboard didn't support the latest video card or ram or hard drive or what-ever.
When the game came out that I had really wanted, I added it all up to upgrade the PC to run it, needing a new motherboard, ram, video, and heck new hard drive with more space, compared it to the laptops and found the laptops with mid grade specs were the same price as a PC.
I took the laptop (an Asus G60 gamer laptop) and have been very happy. It is portable, I can take it to my friends house for lan and it runs all the MMO's I need it to run on high settings. I find great value in that.
On the other hand, I ran the benchmark for Final Fantasy XIV. It's due out next year. You could spend 2000 dollars on a PC today and not be able to take out that beast on the high settings. So the point is I won't be able to upgrade my laptop for next years games. That makes me sad. But its always like that - you have to buy next years hardware to play next years games.
Laptop portability or the PC's upgradability. What's more valuable to you?
I have an Asus Laptop w/ 17" screen. My Games are TF2, Crysis, GTA4, Burnout Paradise & Mass Effect. All run on maximum settings, I also use the Iphone for Internet Tethering. Nothing beats the power of bringing it anywhere I go, work, school LAN games with friends, movies on the go. It's like having a PS3 or a 360 on your bag with built in screen to play with.

For real? How about you stick to the 360 ;)
Seriously, though, there are gaming laptops, but you pay a very big premium for it. It general, PC gaming is quite expensive, no matters what arguments someone else might make. Whether you're 'just upgrading' or getting a new system, it's gonna be way more expensive than console gaming.

i should stick to the 360 ? ,why would i do that
First of all PC is a laptop, PC is a tower, PC is a mac. Im assuming you mean laptop vs tower since macs cant play any games but photoshop. For gaming it is much cheaper to get a tower, and they have better performance and they wont make you lap hot(gaming laptops will do that no matter what.)
So you come in here trying to sound like you know what you're talking about, but fall flat on your face... People call desktops PCs, no one calls them towers because hey, not every desktop is a tower. Cases come in all shapes and sizes and custom PCs are sometimes ridiculous shapes. Next, macs can play quite a few games. It isn't 1990 anymore, they do make some games for macs. You could also run windows on a mac if you want (but that's what some people want to avoid when they get a mac) and run everything out there.First of all PC is a laptop, PC is a tower, PC is a mac. I been building computers since 1990, so excuse me for calling desktops "towers". Also, mac gets 2 year old hardware, and no very good games designed specifically for the os, cept for valve games which are some of the best. Also if you try to game on something that is not a tower, then you are very limited in games as the hardware for non tower desktops are much worse due to the fact the airflow and the hardware size limits you alot. So for the purpose of discussing actual games, and not bejeweled, i will say tower.
If you are getting a computer designed exclusively for gaming, then a Desktop PC would be an obvious choice, but there are definitely laptops out there that can handle pretty much everything out there today if you are willing to pay a premium for the portability.
