Hi Guys

When I was younger I used to play racing games on the original Xbox, I feel the urge to get back into them, PC is the only machine I will game on these days but I was wondering -

A) Are PC Racing Games dead?

B) What's an good online PC Racing Game if they're not dead?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

No. I have been racing on the PC since the original Need For Speed on Windows 95/DOS. Mind you I have been focusing mostly on the Need For Speed series the last being Hot Pursuit, which I am trying to fully complete. There are other's like the newest Dirt and GRID 2 to name a few. Maybe other's could chime in.

As for online, I had no problems finding racers online in Hot Pursuit and being friends with them. Autolog in Hot Pursuit even tracks the speed time of your friends for various tracks and informs you if your friends have beaten your track record. From which you could try to beat their track records racing against the computer.

Well I can't tell if you mean simulation racing or arcade racing, but the Need for Speed series is still going strong and the latest entry "Rivals" is one of the best of the bunch and the way the SP campaign is built into the MP aspect is great.

I am currently playing Shift 2 which is awesome, but not much of a community online. My next pickup will be Rivals or Asseto Corsa once they add more to the game.

I've been playing Assetto Corsa with the Logitech G27 and it's awesome. So much better than Project Cars in my opinion.

So what is the early buy in getting right now? I heard the game doesn't have AI in the game yet? Pretty much just doing time trials? I am curious to know because I might pick it up.

Corsa ATM got time trials, about 9 cars to pick, 6 tracks. It's not fully built in controls to the 360 controller but it works pretty well. Once you've tried Corsa you can't go back to other sims, the feeling of control is insane and the sound of the Ferrari 458 is insane as well. My only complain ATM is the world graphics trees and all is 2D

The content is pretty limited at the moment, but that hasn't stopped me from playing it for 25 hours so far. It's pretty much just time trials and free practice at the moment, but there is a leader board you can download which ranks you against other player's lap times with a particular car and track, so that adds an element of competition to the game.

It feels dead to me, but that's because I played the hell out of Gran Turismo back in PS2 days, then switched to Forza with the Xbox, then got all forzas until the Xbone's.

Some of these other games are great fun, but nothing comes close to the quality of GT or Forza for me. It's all about the "feel" and handling of the cars, and I haven't found anything that behaves as well on computer yet.
