-X3: Reunion
This game is absolutely huge, although it is more of a trade simulation than a full-on combat game (although you can play as a pirate). Think of it like the Oblivion of space simulators; huge universe, open-ended gameplay, different factions, etc. And there are dozens of ships to fly, from lowly frieghters to huge battleships.
-Independence War 2
This is one of my favorites. It has open-ended gameplay where you play as a space pirate, damaging or blowng up tansports to steal cargo while taking on their fighter escorts. There is also a great story to the game, with cool characters, and a decent variety of ships. Looks extremely good for a game as old as it is. My only problem is that it is really difficult
-Darkstar One
A lot like Freelancer, but better. You play a spaceship pilot, and there is a campaign to follow but you can also trade. Fairly arcade-like in that a little kid could play it with ease, but its a ton of fun, and upgrading your ship through out the game is a lot of fun.
What about Parkan 2?
It sounds awesome, is there an english version available? I searched a while back and didn't find one. Anyone played any version of the game or know if it will be released in the US?
Someone described this game as galactic Grand Theft Auto. Having that type of gameplay freedom in a space game sounds like it could be epic, and ALOT of fun!!!
