Hey Darlings.....I need recommendations:

What speakers would y'all recommend for say...medium-hardcore gaming, tons of music listening, and avid movie-watching on my PC? I don't know if my specs matter, but they're pretty damn good. Speaker systems are pretty much compatible with any type of system, no? Fill me in, thanks.

Ps. I hope this is the right forum. I figured I'd post my question in here since it dealt with speakers...

Klipsch Promedia 2.1, buy two if you want surround. Best PC speakers out there for music.

Klipsch Promedia is pretty much what everyone says is the best, but i'm not rich so i settled for the Logitech Z-2300 :D If you want surround i'd say the Logitech Z-5500 ($300) but the budget lines are great. I had the X-230s ($30) for like 3 years and they were great with my X-Fi. The X-530s i'm sure are just as sweet. ($60)

Thanks for the recommendations. I think I've narrowed it down, though there is a significant price difference between the two:

Logitech Z-2300 ($105.99)

Logitech Z-4 40 ($69.99)

If I were to get the second, would I be sacrificing a lot of quality to save some money? I heard it's a good system too though.

Any of y'all have one of these systems? If so, how well does it perform?

I like the aesthetics of the first better, but I'm still leaning towards the second for a couple reasons. Thanks for your input.

I'd go for the Z-2300's over the Z-4's. I'm also looking for some new speakers, click here for my other examples. I originally wanted the Klipsch ProMedia's but they're not available in the UK. I've got to say, I was pretty damn disappointed.

The penny-pincher in me tells me to go with the Z-40...but the Z-2300 just keeps on calling me with its beauty. Grr! Knowing me, I will ultimately end up buying the Z-2300 just because. I'm such a girl sometimes lol.

The quality in those speakers is exactly the same.

Some have mentioned Klipsch, and with right as those speaker systems are awesome. Me myself though is on a look out for the Logitech Z-5400, very hard to find these days for some reason though. :P

Just spend the extra $35. Every time I've skimped on audio equipment I've regretted it. Looking at those two, the Z-4 doesn't appear to have a tweeter, which is a big disadvantage for music. It looks like the Z4 sub might not be vented too, which means less deep bass.

...you should never skip on speaker quality but those two systems (and the fact they are both logitech) are both about the same in quality, which is not saying much. The Z-4's tweeter is the middle of the speaker with a mid-range to the top and bottom...its a common design. The Z-4's sub's vent is most likely in the back. Your audio knowledge is rather poor.

I keep hearing about this Klipsch. I like the way those look. I'll have to read up about them. Thanks.

As I said, my impressions were based off looking at the pictures. I just didn't see the tweeter or a vent. Is my knowledge of these two systems poor? Yes, I made that clear in my post. But claiming my audio knowledge is rather poor is an ignorant statement given the fact that I just finished at the top of my graduate-level acoustics and speaker design class, I'm no expert but my knowledge is definitely not poor.

EDIT: The Z4 sub is NOT vented on the back, or at all, so again the low-frequency performance suffers as a result- I'd be happy to upload frequency response curves for the same driver in sealed and vented cabinets if you don't believe me. And while a tweeter + midrange design is common, it's not common to see a tweeter that's the same size as the mid-range driver since it's not an optimal design.

you may be right on the he Z4 sub being not-vented, cant tell by the pic....but your still an audio noob.

P.S. why are you yelling "not" or is your keyboard busted?...or do you just lack simple intelligence that you need to capitalize words in order for your dim-witted head to remember them?

P.P.S. as i stated before, both subs are junk.

Would you care to justify that statement? Is it just because I didn't know specifics on a cheap set of pc speakers?
