Hello. I just got bought a new Nvidia GTX 470 GPU and i have put it in my pci express slot and turned the computer on but it is not recognising it or coming up in the device manager. the fans are spinning but i get nothing through the card, I am having to use my onboard chipset.

Any advice?

Thanks

Do you have the monitor plugged into it, and the drivers installed?

Are the Nvidia drivers up to date. If not try the newest ones.

Its the most recent driver on the website. The thing is that when i put the driver disc in the pc it says it cannot find the gpu for the drivers. So i got the drivers off the internet but it doesnt seem to have paired with anything, I just almost need to make the pc realise the gpu is plugged in.

Have you tried disabling your onboard GPU? Doing so will lead to a restart at which point you should plug into the gpu and see if that changes anything.

Well, that's the only logical issue besides hardware failure. Have you taken the card out and re-seated it in the pci-e slot? How about some system specs, what mobo are you running.
