I want to buy a PALIT GeForce 9500 GT Super+1gb,

I have a PCI express 1 motherboard but the GeForce 9500 GT Super+1gb 's specifications say PCI express 2.0, I know that GPU's with PCI express 2.0 specifications are always compatible with PCi express 1 motherboards, but since PCI express 1 is half the speed of PCI express 2.0, does that mean the videocard will only run with half the performance on my motherboard?

Yup i don't even think pci-e 2.0 is used yet, it's a bit like DX11 when it comes out, it's there, you can install it, but will be a while before games tap into it's power.

Bandwidth will increase the performance of the High end cards out today not by much but it will, and running two of the top cards on PCIE x16 will cripple the performance, but on the 9500Gt even the really old AGP would not hinder the performance worth to mention.

And just as posters above said, the 9500gt is a slow card, for older games it's fine, but don't hope on playing new games at hi-res and with high level graphic.

For a basic PC/non gaming rig it's more than enough. (webb, video, light gaming.)

I know, but I live in the Philippines where 9500 is the best available, any way can you all answer my main question:I have a PCI express 1 motherboard but the GeForce 9500 GT Super+1gb 's specifications say PCI express 2.0, I know that GPU's with PCI express 2.0 specifications are always compatible with PCi express 1 motherboards, but since PCI express 1 is half the speed of PCI express 2.0, does that mean the videocard will only run with half the performance on my motherboard?

Atleast it must be a lot better than my current 7300 GT 256mb right?

PCIe 1.x won't make any difference on a lowend card, it probably won't even on a highend card.

The 9500gt is around 2-3 times faster than the 7300gt so its a good upgrade.

Try searching for the HD4670, it should be at the same price as the 9500gt but its twice as fast.

Also the 9500gt isnt powerful enough to use all the badwith of pci-e 2.0 not even the best current card can, so there shouldnt be any problems with pci-e x16.

You can use any PCI-E 2.0 card in a PCI-E 1.0 slot and vice versa. It will not slow down the performance of the card at all.(If it will slow down performance it will be by so little, it wont make a difference). The issue is not so much with pci-e 1.0/1.0a but with motherboards with Via chipsets. A new EVGA card WILL work even with pcie 1.0. They updated the firmware with a workaround for pcie 1.0 systems. If pcie 2.0 is not available, the card switches to pcie1.1 mode.

Here is the 9500GT http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4035118&CatId=1826

Wow thanks wklzip, I'll look into that HD4670 and HD4850 as well as see if its available here in the Philippines(gaming economy is really low here), but I could'nt help asking, how smoothly or in what setting some or all of the other latest games like:

Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Gears of War,Crysis, Crysis Warhead, BioShock, Devil May Cry 4 and other 2007 or later releases, and even others not released yet, like Call of Duty:World at War and Prince of Persia 2008.

can run smoothly with my Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2180 @ 2GHz 1.98 GHz combined to a Palit GeForce 9500 GT Super+1gb, along with 2Gb ram. You think there may be a bottleneck among them?

Hopefully anyone out there with a similar GPU and/or CPU will answer this question accurately, but for anyone else, feel free to offer your opinions....

Anyway if my old and current MSI Geforce 7300 GT 256 mb could play Crysis smoothly on low settings, texture and water quality in high, resolution 1024 x 768, will that be a good sign that I could run some of the games i've listed above smoothly atleast at low settings, but this time with a Palit GeForce 9500 GT Super+1gb?

Anyone is welcome to offer help, I'll greatly appreciate it.

Added a few reviews (9500gt and 4670), you should be getting a few less frames because of different cpu than in those review, you just will need to turn down a few settings or change the resolution. :)

And the other parts shouldnt bottleneck the gpu.

Thanks again wkzip, I'll let you know when I found an HD4670. But couldn't help asking:

So, with the Palit GeForce 9500 GT Super+1gb and my cpu in what setting and resolution I'll need to turn Mass Effect,Crysis,Devil May Cry 4 and Warhead to?(try to enter answer for each)

Optional question:What about the other games?

Anyone is welcome to offer help, I'll greatly appreciate it.
