well, been reading up on them, it IS the UK based PC builder shop, right?

They are VERY highly recommended, sounds like they deal in really good componants (but in any case, I would advice putting together a list of componants here on GS, HW, so you know what you should look for).

They do not seem to pay overly much to order the parts home, nor to build them. They have had very few complaints it seems, and thier service is impressive to say the least.

Im pretty sure you would get a good pc from them, with a high service level :)

If you have a grand to spend and you do live in the UK then I fully recommend SCAN computers. My friend ordered a pc off SCAN and I actually have one coming in a week or two.

They have a very good reputation for customer service and its easy to see why. They have their own dedicated forum for support and its very easy to get in touch with them by phone or email. They usually answer my queries within an hr or two.

Plus you can bespoke their systems to your hearts content e.g. different overclock bios settings, moving your windows page file to another drive. All for free.

Yeah i know people who used them and were happy, great service and not much more expensive than building it yourself. I would recommend them.

I've got 2 systems from them, they're good. When i had problems they were helpful.

Also they have unlocked BIOS and aren't installed with tons of junk like many companies do.

A good place to get a comparison on quality pre built systems is www.overclockers.co.uk. You can get gaming systems from £400 upwards and most of them are overclocked and tested before you get them.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-213-OE&groupid=43&catid=2040&subcat=

Select a Graphics card and operating system of your choiceand see how it compares to pc specialist, there's loads of other pre builts to choose from as well, the link is just an example.

I would not like to deal with overclockers because of the reviews they have recieved. I use the review centre (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-213-OE&groupid=43&catid=2040&subcat=) and they are pretty good at giving me a firm picture of reviews. I'm probably too skeptical!

I have built this one up from pcs specialist - please advice me on it

Intel i5 2500k 3.3gz 6mb cache

Asus p8z68 usb3 sata6gb ati/crossfirex

8gb samsung ddr3 dual ddr3 1333mhz (2x4gb)

1.5gb nvidia gtx 580 (it doesnt say what brand like evga msi etc - just nividia)

500gb wd caviar black wd5002aalx sata 6gb/s, 32mb cache 7200rpm

(^ do i need two hard drives?)

4x blueray rom drive 16x dvd rom

It's better to swallow pride if you not certain of everything out there and get it done by a specialist. I applaude you. Work in a PC store myself and seen one too many clients bring in a PC they bought components for but can't get working. Seen one come in with dual GTX580's and a 450w PSU and wondered why it didn't work. Had one spend money elsewhere on dual ATI 6970's but bought a mainboard that doesn't support crossfire. And the place they bought them from said wanted to charge them a massive 20% restocking fee.

General rule of thumb is get a quote from a PC build specialist, but then look up all the component pricing they quoted. This way you know exactly the average price you will be paying for someone to build.

Intel i5 2500k 3.3gz 6mb cache Good processor for games

Asus p8z68 usb3 sata6gb ati/crossfirexYour catered to SLI another 580 later

8gb samsung ddr3 dual ddr3 1333mhz (2x4gb)

1.5gb nvidia gtx 580 (it doesnt say what brand like evga msi etc - just nividia) That will run everything no probs

80gb intel 320 series ssd sata 3gb/s upto 270mb/sr - 90mb/sw

500gb wd caviar black wd5002aalx sata 6gb/s, 32mb cache 7200rpm

(^ do i need two hard drives?) With 80Gb SSD as main OS drive yes you'll need two drives.

4x blueray rom drive 16x dvd rom Are you wanting Bluray, save some $$$ and just go DVDRW. Use that money for slightly larger or faster SSD maybe. Intel is usually a more expensive SSD than other brands. ie: Corsair, OCZ, Kingston

Oh and corsair 650w enthusiast will be okay for the specs

Cheers

I don't want to play blue ray, so I will put the saving towards a larger ssd.

What about a cooler? I have options such as 'Be Quiet Dark Rock Advanced', Arctic cooling freeze or something, coolit eco II and c240

I've actually just ordered myself a new PC from PC Specialist. They provide an excellent service. I'm confident they will be able to help you better with your questions if you phone them up. They will also let you know if your PSU isn't powerful enough for the parts you have asked for.
