i just got a new laptop with vista, and i wanted to kno how i can connect online using my wired connection of the xbox through the laptop, using its wireless

Buy a router

Your not going to pull connection sharing through your 360, as it isn't setup for it...plus you'd have to spend $100 on a wireless adapter for your 360 even if it was possible.

Go buy a netgear router at BestBuy or something for $40.

Why would you want to do that if your laptops connected to it anyway....

If its because u want xbox online then buy a newtwork cable or wireless adaptor. As far as I know it wouldnt be possible to do what your asking...

Maybe the Xbox is too far away from the router to conviently connect it to the router... What you are asking should be possible, through internet connection sharing. Google internet connection sharing on vista and you will probably find some help.

Well if thats what your asking, then YES it is possible.

You just have to setup your NIC to be a gateway. Easiest would probably set it up to just assign DHCP. If your fairly new to networking, this may not be a very user friendly option for you.

My friend is also trying to do the same thing as you. He can get highspeed internet from his cellphone by hooking it up via USB to his laptop....but then wants to hook his 360 to his laptop to get on Live. Sounds like a pain, but he can only get 28.8 dialup on a good day where he lives.

If anybody has a good write-up on how to do something like this, post a link. I'd rather just give him a how to instead of doing it for him.
